SaaS CMMS for your Maintenance Management

In order to properly manage the maintenance of your business assets, not only that you need to produce highly proficient managers and personnel, it will also help that you incorporate a system that will help you assign, schedule and track all your maintenance work within your business and to your clients or vendors.

What better way to manage your company assets is to have a CMMS. CMMS is now widely used by businesses around the world. Computerized maintenance management system is what CMMS stands for. It is a tool to manage assets in their maintenance, be it preventive or corrective.

In choosing your CMMS, there are options you are lined up with. There are two major types of CMMS you can select from. One is the on premise CMMS made by your own group of IT personnel. In this type of CMMS, the maintenance and upgrades is your company’s responsibility. On the other hand, there is the SaaS CMMS where the CMMS is provided by a software vendor. SaaS stands for Software-as-a-service. In this type, the upgrades and maintenance will be the sole responsibility of the software vendor you acquired. They will also assist you in the initial implementation of the system to your business.

With the characteristics of these two types of CMMS, it will be much easier for your business to acquire a Software-as-a-Service CMMS. What made SaaS better than the on premise CMMS? Reasons are:

1. A SaaS CMMS is accessible wherever and whenever you need to have it for the reason that it is cloud based. A cloud-based cmms is a system that runs and can be accessed through the internet. It is easy to access your maintenance management system remotely when it is SaaS.
2.  Maintenance software provided by a software vendor provides low initial and running cost. It is already made and ready to use so you will not have to spend on building one for your own company. The running and maintaining of the software will be by the vendor as well.
3. You will be sure that all data encoded in the system will be secured. Access to the system will also be limited depending on your restriction setting.
4. There is no infrastructure that you needed to have. A dedicated infrastructure is made and provided by your software vendor.
5.  All data can be seen on a data base in case you need them for back up.
6.  Reporting can be made and send across your vendors, your management and even your customers using the system.

How to Choose the Right SaaS CMMS vendor

Having known all the benefits that you can get with a SaaS CMMS, it is now time to decide where you will acquire the system. When selecting the right CMMS vendor, take into consideration these factors:

1. Know the most reputable software vendor. You can check the reviews and see their past clients’ take on the software they are providing.
2. See if the software they are providing can meet your company requirements in terms of maintenance. This will depend on the number of work orders you are generating and how you want the system to do to help ease your maintenance.
3. Consider the cost of the SaaS software. It should be reasonably priced and will match the allocated budget set by your company.
4. Test if the system provided by your eyed vendor is convenient to use.

Every business must invest in their maintenance. Everybody knows that malfunctioning equipment can result to interrupted business operation and having the right maintenance management system is the key to maintaining this equipment.
