We went here (early) on a Saturday of Columbus Day weekend and it was awesome! The food is amazing from the Pesto Fries (make sure you get a thing of the Chipolte dipping sauce) to the burgers (big enough to share) to the homemade mac and cheese. My brother in law and I did a tasting of all their beers and it was well worth it! The Scotch Ale is like dessert! It gets crowded quick, but if you are in the area this place is well worth the stop for food and brews!

I don't live in the area, but my dad does, yet I found out about this place from a friend in Cincinnati. The beer was very good, but the burgers are awesome!! Have been to many microbreweries in the area, as I visit my dad often, and this so far is the best I have found. There are a couple others that have quality beer, but none that knock the beer, and the burgers out of the park. It does sit back off the road a little. I must have drove by it dozens of times over the years and never noticed it. I highly recommend this place.

If you are planning a cooperstown beverage trail visit, I recommend making this part of your route. For one, they are open before noon (which is when most of the other breweries open). Secondly, the quality of their beer is very good. I was there a year ago, and while it was enjoyable I didn't find it remarkable. The brewer must have improved his craft since then because a year later I was very impressed with the variety and quality of his offerings. Food is solid as well. The place looks small, but they have a room in the back that accommodated about 30 of us. Go and visit.

Fantastic beers made and served by fantastic people. If you've got time for one brewery in Cooperstown, skip Ommegang and go here! You won't be disappointed.

My fiance and I made the 4 hour drive from Philadelphia to Cooperstown to visit Ommegang. We decided to check out the local brew scene on Friday evening, and stumbled upon Council Rock Brewery. Of our many, many brewery adventures, this was by far the greatest gem we've ever found. The staff is wonderful, the beer is exceptional, and the FOOD - oh, the food! The homemade coleslaw is delicious, and the Turkey Rachel Panini is to die for. My fiance got a burger, which was also great. We will definitely be coming back to Council Rock on our next trip to Cooperstown. I think this stop was even better than our trip to Ommegang!
