Great little brewery with a fun menu. We were in Cooperstown again for our Hall of Fame weekend and wanted to find somewhere cheap, yummy, and easy. Council Rock provided all three things. The beer was astoundingly fresh and delicious. We ate traditional beer hall food--right next to the kitchen, but that wasn't the worst thing ever. Highly recommended--there's a room with large tables for groups in the back!

WOW! I had to come back for the Fish Fry/Steak Night. First sampled the Heffeweizen which was outstanding, I can't begin to describe the amazing balance this beer has, all the complex flavors unfold without a hint of overpowering each other. Unlike many craft beers I've sampled over the years, theses intricate nuances don't compete but form a synergy on your pallet that has to be experienced. I left with a Growler of the Sunken Island Scotch Ale, all I can say at this late hour is, if God came down from the heavens and began to brew, this is what it would taste like. As for the meal and the service, the ample portion of haddock, roughly about the size of my forearm, was cooked with a light batter, unlike typical fish 'n chips, where you could enjoy the delicate white meat of the fish, while experiencing the crispness of beer batter exterior. The service, vibe and clientele are the real magic that makes this place an instant success among both locals and tourists alike.

Stopped in here for dinner after visiting baseball hall of fame. What an awesome place. Beer was great (more on that later), food was excellent, and the staff was awesome. Only had 2 pints but two of the best beers I've ever had. First one was the honey wheat. It was so delicious. Second was the California lager also very good. Liked the honey wheat so much got a growler to go.
