After a lot of sticking, bending and glueing by several families from Duddon over the past few weeks there finally emerged at Hill Foot, to lead the Swarthmoor procession into town, a jellyfish, shark, stingray, dolphin and a tall mermaid. They all looked fantastic as they were lead through the crowds up to Ford park field where the evening ended with a brilliant firework display.

Another good club paddle, a trip on Coniston. Some photos might be a bit strange with heads missing etc but Nancy wanted to be the photographer today :)Carol

This Friday evening session was well attended so after a paddle exploring the docks it was time to get down to some serious fun and games up at the Bulls Nose where great fun was had by kids of all ages. Kirsty & Michelle, James & Lee paddled out in K2's this evening to get in some more practice.

"What a brilliant day!!!!! A fantastic turn out to our fun day, with over 100 people out on the water trying all manner of craft. Sixty + of today's visitors were new to paddlesports, and others were returning after a long break. We're so pleased we've had the opportunity to promote our incredible sport to so many people. Once again huge thanks are due to our small army of volunteers who make all this possible, and the community who turn up and make it all worthwhile. 馃榿" Cari
Great pictures of the day by Carol and Cari.
Some great comments on the days from visitors to the event
Michelle Holmes "Thank you for today my little boy really enjoyed it"
Karen Baxter "Happy little kayaker!"
Gaynor Pearson "Super friendly event"

The youngsters had a great time training mainly in lightnings and race craft this evening. They had fun playing follow my leader with John using some new skills taught to them before heading off around the dock followed by racing Scott back across the water to base. Lee took James out in a race k2 and they ran rings round these youngsters, literally as they had trouble going in a straight line, but I never told you that. All jokes aside, James did very well as it was his first time in a race boat. All this was followed with a chance to have a go on the SUP boards. A great nights fun to end the holidays.

"A hard paddle across a 3 foot swell from Keswick Landings to the river mouth was rewarded with a glorious 7 km trip. High water levels had washed out some play spots but this did not detract from the great views and the company of friends." John
John managed to take a photo of the 3 foot swell as they paddled through it and David captured the fruits of Autumn as Trevor managed to pick a fine example of an airbag growing along the river bank. Isn't nature wonderful!!!!!

DCC's Family Fun Day on Saturday 1st September is a great way to spend one of the last days of the school holiday with your family and friends. Bring a change of clothes, shoes that can get wet and a bit of loose change as there will be refreshments available and stalls to look round.

Fun at the pool on Thursday evening was captured by Carol on her waterproof camera under and above the water. The youngsters had a great time improving on their skills. After the general session it was time for polo practise.
