A few years ago, her mother was terminally ill. My friend moved in with her mother and began caring for her. She spent a few years just going between work and making sure her mother had someone that cared for her. The mother eventually died.
At this point, she felt it important to start living her life. She decided that the job she had been working at was extremely stressful. She had crazy hours, as someone in this field would have, dealing with crazy people.
So, she found a day job. She was very happy living a normal life. Then three years ago, she developed a very bad cold. It just wouldn't go away. She went to the doctor three different times where he kept prescribing new antibiotics. It got to the point where she had such splitting headaches, she went into the hospital. It turns out, we all have an very thing egg shell thick bone separating our sinuses from our skull. One of hers was not there. So, she was actually battling viral meningitis. She was having seizures. She was quarantined. She lost her job. She eventually went home and had to be away from the public until she was completely healed.
During that time, she downsized her life. Eventually got into a position to drive again (you can't drive if you have seizures) and got a job. Her life was back on the up. She was paying off the debt that she had accrued while ill.
Now, in June, she broke her foot. Her current job requires her to be in her feet. So, she can't work. But the break is so bad, she needs a special surgery to put plates in her feet. If not she will be permanently disabled. With no job, she lost her home and is now living in a homeless shelter.
She needs help. She is trying her best to get on her feet. As you can see, circumstances have been out of control. She has started a GoFundMe page in an effort to come up with money for her surgery. The hope with that is then she can start with another job and find a place to live.
If you have even $5 you can spare to help my friend, she would greatly appreciate it. She lives in Jacksonville, FL and has nowhere to turn. Any advice from someone you know that has had a similar situation, you can offer it at that page too. And if neither is possible, just keeping her in your prayers and positive energy would be great.
She is smart. She is independent. But she is alone.
If you have it in your heart to help her, please do.
