Know of a company that asks for Twitter handles at check-out? I want to know! Here are 6 reasons why your business should be asking for it:

When was the last time you were asked for your email address while purchasing a product or service?

What about your Twitter handle?

While it’s not uncommon for businesses to promote their own Twitter handle or other social media channels online or in-store, few businesses take the opportunity to ask customers to share their information in return.

Whenever I’m holding a webinar, presenting at a seminar, or just interacting with our awesome customers, I’m asked a lot of social media questions that span all major networks.

When it comes to LinkedIn, the one question I hear time and time again is “Should I be spending my time participating in Linkedin Groups?”

My short answer is “yes” and here’s why…

LinkedIn Groups are virtual meeting rooms (or forums) where people with similar interests can post and hold conversations around topics they want to share or learn more about.
Whenever I’m holding a webinar, presenting at a seminar, or just interacting with our awesome customers, I’m asked a lot of social media questions that spa

I’ve always felt that the best way to learn something new is to follow the lead of people I admire, and learn from the work they’ve done to be successful.

Social media is a great example of this. Recently, I’ve been keeping an eye on some well-known social media experts or, “influencers,” to see what I could learn.

After a few weeks of studying the people on my social media influencer list, I’ve noticed a few key patterns of things these experts do, and don’t do when engaging with their audience on sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.

Here are 6 social media do’s and don’ts to keep in mind:

This was the main focus of a presentation class I took last month. Was you're aware, it's shocking how often these words are used...and they're useless.

Literally, honestly, absolutely...the list is endless!
Every December, publications start coming out with scads of lists. Best books of the year. Worst movies of the year. Most shocking celebrity break-ups of the year. Lists upon lists upon lists, defining the past 12 months. One list that often pops up:...

Twitter and #Facebook are used in different ways and for different reason...I don't know that this proves much!
It looks like the perfect A/B test of real-time marketing. One tweet, one Facebook post for all the marbles. Snickers, like many a brand yesterday, joined the bite-jacking fray after Uruguay’s Luis Suarez appeared to sink his teeth into an Italian defender during a FIFA World Cup soccer match. Snickers posted similar messages on both […]

Hashtags are everywhere, and I do mean everywhere!

You can now find them on every major social network (excluding LinkedIn), and more than likely, your customers or clients are already using them in some way or another.

There really are many ways that you can use hashtags for your business’s social media marketing, but in the interest of time, I’m going to focus solely on using them for your events.

Why should I use a hashtag for my event?

As a business owner, you may be putting on all kinds of events to show your expertise and acquire new clients or customers! It’s time to use hashtags to increase awareness and the visibility of your events.

By including a hashtag in your promotions, commentary, and post-event thank yous, you’re not only pulling a conversation together, but you’re also making it easy for people to find photos and attendee interactions with your event.
