After spending the day photographing Terns and Black Skimmers earlier in the day I decided to close out the day at Huntington Beach and I’m glad that I did. As the sun went down I was able to capture the gorgeous light that was cast on the pier however…

Leaving Yosemite Valley — We decided head back to our hotel in Oakhurst, CA after spending time in Yosemite Valley on our first day in the park. As we made our way out of the park the sun was setting. Then as it fell behind the mountains in the distance the sky lit up with a multitude of colors. I quickly found a turn out, grabbed my tripod and, setup to capture the electric sky.

Sunset on White Sands Monument — I was photographing the sunset at White Sands Monument in New Mexico when I decided to turn around and look behind me, I saw that the sun cast a gorgeous golden tone across the gypsum dunes as it lit the erosion carved mountain range in the distance.

Here's a image shot last year at Drakes Beach at Point Reyes National Shore across the bay from San Francisco in Northern California. It was extremely windy at the time so the goal here was to try to capture the motion of the sand blowing across the beach.
