One of the oldest place in the famous Sunset Strip. The Rainbow Bar and Grill has a lot of music history behind it. If you are a person who appreciates classic rock you will love this place. They have outstanding food. If you are just coming for a drink or dinner you will enjoy the food. Anything from great soups to excellent pasta dishes. This place does getting busy no matter what time of the day you go. I highly recommend the meatball sandwich. For main dishes I would recommend the any of the fish dishes or the filet Mignon. Leave room for desert as they several great dishes. I would order the chocolate mousse or the Tiramisu. The valet parking or street parking. Hands down one of the coolest places in LA.

Great place with a lot of rock and roll history , tons of pictures of artists that have been here inside as well as the front wall of bricks were band names have been carved into them .. The staff is not the best and the food and drinks are alright ..if you are coming here is for the rock and roll ambient not the food.

This is a people-watcher's paradise. I grew up with the rock of the early 80's through the hair/glam band days, so the Rainbow is obviously an iconic member of the historic rock venue trinity (with the Whisky and Roxy) for those of us of that era. Lots of pictures and memorabilia covering the walls and ceilings, which is great to check out. But the people-watching element is the best. It is definitely a place where posers, wanna-be's, and wanna-be-seens go in search of attention. Anyone's attention. It's both sad and fascinating, but totally worth it. The doorman, maître d' and server were all nice and laid-back and the service was very good. We had eaten a few hours before coming there for drinks, so we just ordered 4 or 5 appetizers to snack on - all of them were great. The mozzarella sticks (actually, they were the shape of tater-tots, but about 3 times the size) were the best I've ever had anywhere.

Worst food ever. Manager was a jerk, arguing with me that my over cooked steak was med rare when it was well done... And when asked he said if he knows steak, he said he was a vegetarian... He also said, this isn't Wolfgang Puck, "it's just the Rainbow Room", I wish the owner would have heard that... Just a terrible experience when I used to like this place . Never going back.

This evening we called around 1030pm and asked the time they closed and they said 11pm so we said we would be right there. We arrived at 1045pm and the server said they were closed. The chef in the kitchen also said they were closed and they shut everything off and even took out the trash. Very disappointed in this attempt for dinner. Find another service oriented place.

If you are going for ambiance only then this is the place! If you're going for good food and good service, I'd choose somewhere else if I were you! We actually gave this place 2 chances. On vacation from TX my husband wanted to go here because of the history. The waitress had ADD and kept forgetting about us. Then when paying she had to come back and make sure the credit card we gave her was from us. The second time..our last night in CA, the waitress acted put upon when we asked her for large glasses of water. She had another waitress bring a Luke Warm pitcher of water on our table. When asked if we could have the large glasses she indicated the pitcher...when I told her it was Luke Warm she went off in a huff. The first waitress got a $2 tip...the second got $1! The food was sub-par at best! So...if going here for ambiance...then go for it. If you want your trip ruined in part due to bad service...you've been warned!
