I am sharing with all of you two opposing views on the use of gamification in elearning. On one hand, AJ Walther says that it is not always a good thing to gamify  elearning.
http://iconlogic.blogs.com/weblog/2015/04/elearning-is-gamification-really-necessary.html

With #gamification, you may be able to make a unicorn and sell it but you may end up selling a mule: it has a purpose, it's useful, but it's not that pretty. But everybody expects the unicorn. Then you have to explain why you have to use a mule instead. Great post by Michael P. Jones.

If you are taking a MOOC, this is a good idea: post a blog on what you're learning. In this case, Gamification and how she is understanding the whole idea and how to apply it to elearning.
http://madelearningdesigns.com/2015/02/17/the-game-of-learning-design/

On the other, John Laskaris says that it can help you achieve your learning goals, if used properly. What do you all think?

http://blog.talentlms.com/lms-and-gamification/
We all know what gamification is and how it can improve the learning process but how actually LMS and gamification play together? How to make it right?

SEMs don't get enough credit and many treat them as mere factory workers. I have had bad experiences with some but in general I believe they don't get enough credit for their work. I hope this post by Brent Schlenker may help change that.
http://www.litmos.com/blog/elearning/subject-matter-experts-the-heroes-of-the-training-world
Subject matter experts come in many different varieties. You will encounter many different personalities in your career as a Training professional. To me learning is a state that has a definite value, like 0 and 1 in binary code. Why would there be degrees of learning? Deep learning seems to imply that after learning, there is this other stage. To me, either you learn or not. I don't know, I just don't agree with this definition.

I don’t know of you are familiar with the idea of “deeper learning” but it seems to fit in nicely with ed tech and 21st century skills. So if you are trying to get those into your district, perhaps a stop at the Deeper Learning website would be a good place to start. In classrooms where deeper learning is the focus, you find students who are motivated and challenged—who look forward to their next assignment. They apply what they have le...

A very informative post by Dr. Joel Gardner.
http://engage.franklin.edu/i4/2015/01/26/492/
What is the difference between instructional design, instructional technology, and instructional science? In this post, I will clarify the distinctions between these three closely related concepts. Instructional Design uses instructional technology and is based on instructional science.
