Just back from a marvellous trip in the Galapagos islands with good friends. We flew into Quito, Ecuador, and transferred at Guayacil to the National Geographic Endeavour ship, organized by Lindblad Expeditions.Only 98 passengers and no fewer than 72 crew/staff, including National Geographic photographers and several naturalists. Extraordinary creatures. Our crew enjoyed themselves immensely and certainly recommend Lindblad. We went to Alaska with them some years ago, also great. Peter Cotton

Early days in the "gut hut" at St. Thomas' Hospital in London. Dr. Peter Cotton, still officially a trainee, performing an Upper Endoscopy with one of the first forward viewing "Panendoscopes" (slightly speeded up!). Note the small field of view, lack of gloves, and the side arm "teaching attachment".
