New podcast! This time, I tackle Rick Gualtieri's Bill the Vampire, a dumb and horribly entertaining comedic tale you won't want to miss. Probably. My stuff begins at 53:45, but don't be shy about taking in the loooong X-Men movie discussion before me.

I hit a mental block a couple months back on my romantic SF adventure serial and had to put it aside. Since then, I'm been studying a lot about story structure and realized that writing out past what I'd outlined had taken me down a bad road and that the road I'd been on wasn't so great to begin with. So today, I've resolved to throw out the 17,000 words I'd written and start over once I complete a SOLID scene map for at least the first installment. I am so not a pantser.

Just passed the 100,000-word mark for novel work this year, almost half of which is on my young adult sci-fi sequel. I'm behind schedule but still happy to pass this milestone. I still think 400,000 for the year is possible if I can avoid any more dry spells.

Currently on draft 3 of my YA duology, book 1, and now 40,000 words into book 2. Thing is, I'm finding it really hard to push book 1 through to publication because I keep discovering little things in writing book 2 that I want to go back and seed in book 1. As a result, my book 1 editing has ground to a halt. I honestly can't tell if I'm just being lazy about editing or smart about making a better series.

It's not your parents' library anymore. Fortunately.

Normally, I try to save G+ for fiction-related stuff, but today I have an article headlining Intel's Adrenaline site. So if you're at all curious about my day job, well...here you go.

April was not a great productivity month for me. I could take the easy way out, but here's the truth about writing with a full schedule.

I actually finished everything on my to-do list today. And it only took until 12:30 AM. Woo-hooo!
