A recent study shows that the fat hormone leptin may be associated with hearing and vision loss. From a study conducted on zebrafish researchers were able to discover that leptin was closely linked to issues with the eyes and ears. After seeing the effects of leptin on zebra fish, the scientists moved on to mice and found the same results. They believe that from here, they may be able to discover if it has the same effect on humans.

Children's Eye Exams Can Help With Academics
Regular eye exams are important because they not only identify if there is a vision issue, but they also detect additional problems with eyes - which is not possible with standard school screenings.

It's extremely important for contact lens wearers to take proper care of their lenses. If not, problems may arise.  For example. if a contact user rinses their contacts over tap water, they are at risk of a blinding amoeba.  Acanthamoeba is found in tap water, and it sinks into the cornea while  feeding off of bacteria and corneal tissue.  If contact users are not careful, they may feel the acute pain that comes with the amoeba.
