After reading all the reviews I decided to celebrate my husband's birthday there. It exceeded all our expectations!!! Nice and cozy place, good service and really delicious food! This place is very different from all the other restaurants downtown Forest Park. If you want to relax and have a delicious dinner go to Gaetano's Restaurant

I appreciate (everyone should appreciate) any cook who understands, as whoever works the range at Gaetano's clearly understands, that if you're not starting your red sauce with a fist-sized dollop of panchetta fat, then you should probably just not start the sauce. Well done. Deducting two stars: - some idiot wrapped calamari around asparagus, deep-fried it and then lubed up the finished product with a half pint of lukewarm mayo. A bigger idiot then let the first idiot put this franken-app on the menu. - every plate I saw was inexplicably garnished with an artsy-/messy-looking dusting of paprika. Why? - I get that it's the suburbs and standards are lower generally, but decorating the place so it looks like Cost Plus World Market kind of demands censure. All things considered, Gaetano's does a lot of things right (especially the wine list, which was pretty killer), but there is seriously questionable decision-making going on in the background.

Delicious. We had the chef's tasting which was recommended by many yelpers as well as our phenomenal server, David. Loved the space, even the bathroom! Service was exceptional. From the complimentary valet parking, hostess, servers, runners... everyone. Food? Well I think we just found a new place to take out-of-towners. Oh, and we'll be back. There's much to sample.

This man Gateano is a culinary genius The food and his extremely awesome personality is a once in a lifetime experience. He is the BEST!!!!!!!!!

First off, I've been going to Gaetano's since he was over on Circle and I have never been let down. This is a Chef who is on the line every night ensuring his masterpieces are done perfectly and it tastes that way. Secondly, I was just there again last night and I was absolutely blown away by two dishes on the specials list. Gaetano's preparation of ahi is the best I have ever had And I mean better than all the surf and turf joints on Rush st. and the River, better than the high end restaurants in Maui and Oahu. We loved it so much we ordered a second after we finished our entrée (braised short ribs with mushrooms and cream inside ravioli ) which also was exquisite. We also had a 40$ bottle of wine that tasted like an 80$ of Jordan. Hands down this is the best restaurant in this area.

Do you love food as much as I do? Then you know those magical, mystical foodie experiences that happen every once in a while. There's usually a chef-owner pulling the strings of your epicurean heart, just like Gaetano, the namesake for his restaurant. The mood is set as soon as you walk through the iron doors and step into a tiny town in Italy. It's small and warm and friendly and dim. You will see Gaetano there in the open kitchen. Start with the chorizo-stuffed figs and you'll be on your journey. The wine list is extensive and unique. Your server will recommend an Italian you've never heard of but won't forget. The entrees are as diverse as Italian cooking so you can't go wrong with home made fettuccini in lobster sauce, crab-stuffed pork chops, or a prime steak. You'll think you tasted it all, until you see the gelato dessert poured with chocolate-run sauce a few feet overhead by your server, who lights it on fire. It glows all blue as you admire the meal you've just shared with your family or friends. And you can't wait to come back for the next special occasion. Or to make any Tuesday a special occasion. Ask for the table in the window and get a private nook for the best romance in Chicagoland.

Amazing,,,I mean amazing food..gaetano is an artist...and the nicest guy you will ever meet. Wonderful atmosphere matches the exemplary service you get. 5 Stars!

a blessing for those of us who appreciate fine italian cuisine. why travel to milan when this forest park location is so much closer.
