This is definitely a five star museum from the outside space to the the architecture of the building to the free exhibits, definitely worth a visit... BTW the guards over there were so so nice... They even gave us free tickets to a paid exhibit.

One of my favorite places to spend the day. Whether you go alone or take the family, there is so much to see and do! They have many great exhibits come through and free galleries for the public to enjoy. They even have a beautiful garden outside. Check it out!

Beautiful, beautiful pieces, beautiful garden. This Museum features mid-western pieces, often undervalued by us of the mid-west. A commanding tribute. I took my year old daughter, accompanied by a friend and her 18 month son. The staff made me feel very comfortable with the children. I enjoyed the adult time and the honor of viewing these works (esp. Degas' Little Dancer!!), I will be saving time with the children for the Children's Museum--parenting museum-quietly and keeping little ones museum-mannered is exhausting! :)

This museum offers permanent displays of local and global artists. They also attract travelling exhibits from around the world, so you should check what they are showing from time to time. A huge grant from a donor means that admission is free, so there's no reason you shouldn't check out the Joslyn!

What a wonderful surprise. The building itself is a work of art, just breathtaking. And inside I did not expect to find a Rembrandt, a Titian, and the most glorious watercolors of the plains indians. The guards were so helpful and friendly. I hope to return. The guards were so kind and helpful!

We went to the Joslyn museum this morning for the story hour done for children. The first experience with the staff(front desk) was pleasant. As we walked upstairs to the second floor, the staff got unfriendly. We had gotten there a bit early so decided to walk around. My daughter(2) saw a picture of an animal and automatically touched it. One of the staff(black man)came over, very rudely and said don't touch that. I completely understood. Talked to my daughter about and then continued walking through to the other exhibits. Then he started following us into each gallery. Story time started so we made our way back to gallery 1. A women came in(looked like a manager) and kept talking to this man who had been rude to us about touching the painting. They both kept looking at me and I felt very threatened and uncomfortable. As soon as story hour was done, my daughter and I got up to leave. The women followed us through every exhibit for the next 30 minutes, making me feel like I was going to do something. Worst staff experience EVER. The only thing good about the Joslyn museum is the story hour for kids as well as the outdoor pond, sculptures, scenery and free admission. I would rate the outdoor with five stars. But the indoor gets one star.
