Anyone know what this is? It was hiding under fallen grape leaves. Well camouflaged with the seasonal fall. Look at the spiky spur on its tail! And what kind of grub has eyes like that? I guess it's a baby moth pre-cocoon??

Just read it! For kids' sakes no tagging. And limit the supply of face pics for the software on the first place!
I vividly remember the Facebook post. It was my friend’s 5-year-old daughter “Kate,” (a pseudonym) standing outside of her house in a bright yellow bikini, the street address clearly visible behind her on the front door. A caption read “Leaving for our annual Labor Day weekend at the beach,” and...

Something to think about!
Arunachalam Muruganantham has helped bring cheap sanitary pads to rural India, by inventing a simple machine to make them - but it nearly cost him his marriage.

Thoughts on this? #healthit
The announcement of the NHS care.data scheme has attracted criticism from scientists, doctors and interest groups. With good reason, argues Edward Hockings. More than just a matter of privacy, by opting out of care.data we are exercising our right to democracy.

Ha! Keneally hits the mark.

"it seems most of us have fallen in love with a guy who is going to break our hearts.

Yes, I’m talking about the cool guy in the leather jacket, the one who has been sitting up the back of class, making cut-up comments about marriage equality and climate change, yet without being sent to the principal’s office. He’s a little dangerous and oh-so-enticing that most of us are willing to overlook his flaws (he’s a Liberal, for starters) just to get with him"

Seems that a great wrong that happened in the Lib party room back in 2009 has been corrected. It was about whether climate change was crap then. Six wasted years on perhaps we can make some progress now... Please!

Why is Abbott govt axing the Australian charity watchdog? Surely this is extremely important to keep around. Is it just a way for certain church based charities to avoid scrutiny even more? sigh

The Abbott government plans to kill off Australia's first charities watchdog, even though it's got the overwhelming support of the sector. Reporter Sarah Dingle investigates who's behind the push to nobble regulation of this $55 billion industry.

Everyone should understand the value of this study!
GRILLING meat gives it great flavour. This taste, though, comes at a price, since the process creates molecules called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) which...

Wisdom :)
In almost any science-fiction scenario involving time-travel, the default action is to kill Hitler. As terrible a human being as he was, there are many reasons why this probably isn’t a good idea

Used to live on Semaphore Road (2008) and this supermarket is of excellent quality, partly because it's not Coles or Woolies but partly because it's really connected to the local community there. I used to get a lot of fruit and veg there because it was good quality, presumably purchased recently and locally, rather than the defrosted crap at the duopoly stores. Only modest variety/selection though. Not going to compete with a continental deli.

Shop here most Mondays. Always excellent quality food, including fresh produce and meats. I can't think of a single bad thing about it. Gets so much respect from me too for being a locally-aware and connected independent store rather than one of the duopoly.

Nothing pretentious about this cafe. Simply, the food is delicious, cheap, and reliably accurate to the Shanghai dumpling style.
