What a great gift to the city this place and collection are. We are lucky to have it and the fact that you can get in for free is outstanding. They have such a fantastic collection of work here, I couldn't believe it. It is so vast that much of their work can't be shown all at once so they loan items out of other museums. An absolute must see if you are interested in art.

For a small art museum located in a nice Houston neighborhood, they have an impressive art collection. A great place to spend an hour or two.

Whether you're a novice or a seasoned art lover this museum has something for everyone. I think my favorite was the Freedom fighters exhibit. It is huge and can be interpreted multiple ways. Admission is free, but a small donation is appreciated.

Beautiful building and collection. Make sure to visit the outer buildings, not just the main one.

Having never been to an art museum before, I can safely say that this was an enjoyable experience. If you have never been to an art museum, I highly recommend you ask the front desk for proper viewing etiquette because it will be expected of you to know already. In a few exhibits, it was hard to appreciate the art due to the staff's overbearing presence. However, it is hard to deny that this is a great place for trying something different since it is free.

The art work here was trash and the people were extremely rude. I'm from Chicago and I've seen better artwork at children's museums. Honestly the worse "so-called" museum I've ever been to

I really enjoyed this place. Loved the artifacts. If you've ever cracked a textbook in art class I'm sure you'll recognize a piece or two. Some exhibits were over my head, but some of the rooms were just plain serene. I had heard they don't like photos - that's fine, it's a free private collection. Gives you more time to focus on th exhibit anyway. Wish I had cash on me to drop them a few bucks. The guards always hovering took a bit of getting used to, but when you think about the fact that here's hundreds of millions at stake and they let anyone in, it's understandable.

The collection is incredible! The lighting is magical and the squeaky old floor ads nostalgia. Just be careful where you park... Reńe Magritte, Pablo Picasso, Max Ernst, Andy Warhol.... And the ancient artifacts and sculptures are amazing. Highly recommend
