Here's good news for parents with stubborn kids (I've got one or more at times).  Our kids will probably get rich.  I agree that the best course is just to accept and embrace it.  It helps to remind yourself everyday to be patient and loving.  And most importantly, they need our firm hand, lest you want to end up with an entitled kid.
Your kids' stubbornness might drive you crazy, but research shows it'll probably help them succeed in life.

"Breast milk acts as a baby's first vaccine to help fight disease and illness," said Dr. Cesar Victora, emeritus professor of epidemiology at the Federal University of Pelotas in Brazil.  Mom benefits, too.
Billed as the most comprehensive look at breast-feeding research, a new report finds hikes in breast-feeding could prevent 820,000 children's deaths each year.

My kids are returning to school tomorrow!  I have to review this list of questions that urge them to talk about their day.  "How was your day?" is not on the list.
The question "How was your day?" is a conversation killer, especially for kids. Here are 30 alternatives that will inspire more than a grunt in reply.

Disciplining kids is not about incentives and consequences.  Do you agree with Dr. Ross Greene?
Negative consequences, timeouts, and punishment just make bad behavior worse. But a new approach really works.

Kids who often play outside such as in parks, nature trails, and beaches not only improve their health and their social skills but also develop stewardship skills.  Who will take care of our environment in the future if no one cares?

Language is one of the most imortant skills a baby needs to learns from his parents.  Backward-facing strollers allow parents to talk to their babies a lot more and encourage more interaction.  And more importantly, babies feel more secure when they see their mommy or daddy.

Developing an attitude of gratitude can help you live a longer, happier life.   Kids cannot be cajoled into showing appreciation, but your gentle efforts and examples will instill a mind-set of gratitude especially when you start at an early age.  Below is a 2-year old in a thankful prayer. This is so precious beyond words!
Kathryn Whitt caught her daughter Sutton praying an hour after putting her to bed.

Overinvolved parents believe that it is for the best interest of their children, but be warned of its consequences.
Excerpted from How to Raise an Adult: Break Free of the Overparenting Trap and Prepare Your Kid for Success by Julie Lythcott-Haims, out now from Henry Holt and Co. Academically overbearing parents are doing great harm. So says Bill Deresiewicz in his groundbreaking 2014 manifesto Excellent Sheep: The Miseducation of...

Don't be quick to blame teachers.  Parents have a great impact on how well their kids do well in school.
A new study finds that pupil attainment and ability is affected five times more by parental influence than by teachers.
