I have to admit this blows my mind: In Q4 2011 Apple's iPhone business alone was bigger than all
of Microsoft. All!
Windows, Office, Xbox, everything.
iPhone rev: $24.4 bil. Microsoft (all): $20.9 bil.
And this is just plain crazy, Apple made more profit on hardware (9.3 bil) than Microsoft did with software (8.2 bil). It is supposed to be the other way around.
Governments around the world wanted to break up Microsoft because it was "too big" and "squashed competition." Microsoft also give Apple funds to save it when it was in a very precarious situation (Steve 2.0).
The moral of this story: Innovation solves all known problems. One small device, brilliantly made, wonderfully marketed, rewrote a lot of rule books. Bravo Apple!
