Read my article for CloudTech about protecting datacentres from floods and other disasters: http://bit.ly/1QFTF6s
While Vodafone claimed its data centres weren't hit by the flooding and that the media had misreported the incident, it is a fact that data centres around the world can be severely hit by flooding and other natural disasters.

Tinder for Fitness? Meet Fitssi, the app that connects you to fitness partners and an all fitness newsfeed: Version 3.0 launched at Techcrunch Disrupt London

Fitssi is a free app to help you connect with new training partners. Version 3.0 brings new functionality - including awesome classes and “zone” an all fitness encompassing newsfeed for you to post photos of your new kicks and kale.

It’s that time of year again, the time when people are looking ahead to 2016 and considering how to tackle the post-Christmas bulge by joining a gym. Unfortunately a sizeable number of them will only go for a few months before they lose the motivation to keep up their fitness programme. What’s missing? The ongoing inspiration and motivation of a personable fitness community. Fitssi is the perfect Christmas present, an iOS native app which gives you the gift of fitness in the palm of your hands.

“Fitssi makes getting fit a healthy proposition: No fad diets, no short cuts, just the beginning of committed sustainable change that can follow you through life”, says Nick Vass – Associate Creative Director of the Picture Production Company.

He describes himself as a typical target user for Fitssi and professes to have struggled with his weight for years while finding gyms ultimately too intimidating. This anxiety about gyms demotivated him, making it harder for him to stick to an exercise regime. Fitssi solved this problem for him by combining fitness with social media, allowing him to connect with people who share the same interests.

“By connecting you with fitness friends, your social life gets better, you’re more active, and you will probably be looking a lot better too, so it’s great for pulling you out of a rut and improving your overall wellbeing – and all without costing a fortune”, he adds. He therefore recommends Fitssi because in his opinion it’s a great application for people who want to indulge in exercise, sport or achieve weight loss.

Fitssi’s benefits

The Fitssi mobile application enables people to discover local fitness meetups and classes. No contracts or ties.......just one tap on one app to request a training session with a new “fitness mate”. By using GPS technology users can request to join desired partner workouts in real time based on location and workout preferences.

Furthermore synchronisation with Ical means you will never miss a workout again!!! The apps “chat” feature facilitates partner communication before training....just 1 more overriding element of convenience which makes Fitssi a standout App. Post-exercise the Newsfeed is the perfect stumping ground to showcase your workout selfies and gains...In the most social way possible.

“Fitssi is the biggest gym you could ever need, all in the palm of your hand. No expensive contracts, or long-term commitments, just a gateway to becoming the person you always wanted to be whilst making a few friends along the way,” says Chris Sweeney a London based personal trainer who is also one of the co¬founders of Fitssi.

Social motivation

Recently a study by Stanford University found that just one phone call a week from a fitness partner can increase the amount you exercise by 78%. Sweeney therefore suggests “Nothing is more motivating than the encouragement of another person when you’re working out, and we think it will be a great route to friendships that last outside the online world.”

Vass adds: “It’s so much easier to stay motivated when your exercise becomes a social activity, so by connecting people who want to get fit, Fitssi is connecting people to an achievable, and affordable, weight loss goal.”
Humans are social beings, and creatures of habit. Fitssi brings people together whilst also combating the rising tide of obesity and the health problems that come with it.

Katie Wright - Managing Director of FCB inferno adds, "Fitssi is a genius, a much needed social fitness gateway bringing people together, fitness on-demand with one click Facebook login integration.” With Fitssi people can grow their social fitness community, keep in touch with partners and likeminded people to connect with their workouts without being stuck in an overpriced 12 month gym contract.

Training on demand

Fitssi is a platform for active people to connect with trainers and join training sessions without having to schedule multiple sessions at one go or pay such a high price for each session. Once a trainer schedules their class within the app users can then join the session and post their experiences within “zone”.

Lee McPherson, Co-CEO of Fitssi adds: “All users have a profile which provides an immediate visual representation of their biographical details, posts and activity level. This is social proof and puts confidence in prospective training partners. Furthermore, all Fitssi user posts act as a hub for motivation, entertainment and social discovery.

Let’s start to get fit!

Everyone lives in a world where the population is steadily putting on more weight, putting a strain on our hearts and our health services. So what could be better than an app that takes the fear out of getting in shape? To start their fitness programme users simply create a profile before connecting with people about their health and fitness level to train with.

Fitssi is simply the revolutionary social fitness app designed to connect sports enthusiasts, exercise fanatics and beginners with the hope of creating a happier and healthier world. So try Fitssi to get or keep fit today!
