I wish them luck. They fight on our behalf.

If you want to fight the law that allows DRM (Digital Rights Management), you may want to help them to stop allowing companies to prosecute consumers for reconfiguring software-enabled devices; more and more items are run by software and more and more items are being made with software that stops anyone using components etc. made by other companies; you buy one make of lamp or printer or such have to forever use their make of light bulb/ink/paper or whatever. For example, there are now lamps that allow you only to use that lamp's brand of light bulb, cars with computers that allow only the maker's incredibly expensive machines to access them to diagnose the car's repair needs, items that work wirelessly via your internet connection and can be made to cease functioning whenever the company so chooses (Google already did this with a device they sold).
These things exist already and are in use in the homes of consumers and you can be certain this will become standard if DRM is not fought.
It may be possible to override the software in these items to allow other brands of items to be used in them. but it is illegal to do so and anyone can be prosecuted and jailed for it.
Especially with everything becoming 'smart' and therefore connected to the web (known as 'the internet of things'), it is easy for the companies to find out if their software has been overridden by the consumer as well as being easy for companies to render an item useless when they no longer want it in use and want people to buy a newer model.
Soon we may not be allowed to choose which renewables (e.g light bulbs, car parts, inks, sewing machine threads etc. etc.) that we use or which brand of components we choose to upgrade items (phone expansion cards, additional hard drives and USB pen drives and so on). It will eventually affect everything in our lives and the lives of future generations. We need to be fighting it. We need to take back control of the items we buy and stop companies being able to say they keep rights to control what you do with them.
If you are not fighting this or at the very least aware of it and deeply concerned, you have no right to complain when you find you are not allowed to do what you want with the items you thought you owned and are paying a premium for brands of parts and renewables that you otherwise wouldn't choose to buy.

The EFF is fighting it in the US and, even though I am in the UK, I donated because the fight must take place in the US as well as elsewhere and what the US does the rest of the western world follows. You know it does.

You can donate to EFF's efforts here... https://supporters.eff.org/donate/

The foxgloves are all starting to flower in the field. I see them from my kitchen window and they look lovely. Photos don't do them justice at all.
The upper section of the field is all white daisies and clumps of pink campion. A few poppies beginning to appear but I think the rapidly spreading daisies have crowded most of them out.

The Orlando massacre was just one of 43 shootings that day,
US shooting data shows that gun violence kills or injures an average of 112 people over any given 24-hour period.

My daughter, just home from a trip to the US, says she was stunned to see a retail park with Wal-Mart, Home Depot and, in the middle, a huge weapon shop, with an enormous semi-auto rifle as its sign. A couple of days ago a British politician was shot and the second thought most of we Brits had was, "where the hell did he get a gun?"

In America, something is clearly broken.

Across America, 218 people were killed or injured by guns yesterday.

That is exactly what I see in the US, if people like Einstein, Newton, Marie Curie and others are born as poor now, they'll screwed for life with no hope for success. Even if they succeed, the rich will surely exploit them and shove them aside.

Our new Prime Minister, Theresa May, has just abolished the Department for Energy and Climate Change.

She also selected Boris Johnson as Foreign Secretary -- the same man who has openly argued that snow disproves global warming (yeah, he's not just openly racist).

As Environment Secretary, she appointed Andrea Leadsom, who supports fox hunting and has her own history of climate scepticism.

Oh the joys of the knock on effects of Brexit. Thank you to all the stupid fuckers who voted for that and welcome to Margaret Thatcher in thin disguise.

Oh, well, perhaps a silver lining of Brexit is that the TTIP doesn't involve Britain anymore, well, in a couple of years once we've actually left, it won't. The EU Referendum has at least stopped that, or delayed any version of it for some time, and presumably it gets Britain out of complying with the EUCD too (the EU's version of DRM).
It's a very, very thinly plated silver lining, I admit, but it is the best I can come up with. We are still up shit creek and with the added bonus of racists and racist political parties assuming it is now fine to be up front, out in the open, threatening, odious scum.
Oh, happy days.

Nooooo!
These 4 elephants were rescued by Wildlife SOS from a life of horrific cruelty in a circus. A court has now decided that the circus may have them back. Today they were sent back to the circus. They have gone back to a life of spiked chains, neglect, and cruelty.
Sign the petition, please, to try to get them freed again.

Shameful and indefensible.
A monthly fee imposed on solar customers was just voted in by the Nevada Public Utility Commission (PUC), penalizing users of the renewable energy and screwing these guys over after making the investment to go solar.
Utterly SHAMEFUL.

It is expected both parties allow such things to happen and don't fight for the civilians. There's democracy in name only.

How we will keep the Decentralized Web decentralized: Cory Doctrow's talk from the Decentralized Web Summit.

Cory suggests two. First, when a computer receives conflicting instructions from its owner and from a remote party, the owner’s wishes should always take precedence. In other words, no DRM (that means you, W3C). Second, disclosing true facts about the security of systems that we rely upon should never ever be illegal. In other words, we need to work to abolish things like the DMCA, which create legal uncertainty for security researchers disclosing vulnerabilities in systems locked behind DRM.
