Is there a “proper” way to be transgender? You know the answer is no, but is it possible that you've bought into some of the social stigmas pressuring trans people to stick to a script? Many parts of our lives, gender identities, and sexuality are left out of socially accepted trans stories

By Bill Bigelow “Wear green on St. Patrick’s Day or get pinched.” That pretty much sums up the Irish-American “curriculum” that I learned when I was in school. Yes, I recall a nod to the so-called Potato Famine, but it was mentioned only in passing. Sadly, today’s high school textbooks continue to largely ignore the famine, despite the fact that it was responsible for unimaginable suffering and the deaths of more than a million Irish peasants...

There is no way that's NOT murder. That cop needs to be convicted (but given how these things tend to play out, I'd be wholly unsurprised if he weren't).
The North Charleston officer had said that the man took his stun gun, but a video shows the officer firing eight times as the man, who was apparently unarmed, fled.

Conflation of gender dysphoria and body dysmorphia seems hard to imagine to those who are very well aware of both of these terms. However, it seems to be a fairly common point of confusion in articles about transgender individuals and extremely prevalent in the comments sections of other transgender related articles.

Here’s a helpful analogy if you encounter someone who is still struggling to grasp that whole “only have sex with people who want to have sex with you” idea. The Rockstar Dinosaur Pirate Princess recommends: If you’re still struggling, just imagine ...

A genderqueer mechanical engineer ;)
Introduction
I don't think I'm particularly complicated. I engineer things, I queer things, I drive and steer things. Occasionally I write, but I mostly spend time reading interesting things others have written. I'm a feminist and a liberal who loves hir country enough to want it to be better for everyone. I'm a libra and I'm agnostic... but neither of those are of particular importance. I'm a geek, an activist, and a political junkie. I think that's about it for now... anything else, just ask me.
