I recently booked travel to Myrtle Beach and included a paid resevation for a Chevrolet Impala rental using HotWire. I paid about $50 premium for the Full Sized top rated Chevy sedan. Upon arrival we were delayed at the counter while the agent argued with a customer, whose flight had arrived early an who she wanted to either charge an additional rental fee or make him wait until the appointed time. During this wait I overheard another agent give a Kia Optima to a customer who said she too had booked and paid for a full sized sedan. She assured the customer that the Optima (which Kia advertises as "Not just another mid-sized sedan" )was in fact full sized. An outright lie. After watching people come and go with smiles from Budget Avis and Hertz I finally made my way to the counter. Having watched the previous customers being lied to and hassled and seeing a Toyota key in her hand, I asked what car she was giving me. She said a Camry, Toyota's mid-sized entry. I told her I had paid for a full sized and she told me the Camry was full-sized. At this point I told her I was not going to accept a mid sized car, that I had made a fully paid reservation 2 months before and that it was the rental company's responsibility to assure that the proper vehicle was ready when I arrived. I suggest she could do one of 3 thing, get me my Impala, upgrade me to something of equivalent sized or simply refund my credit card immediately so that I could go to one of the more reputable agencies, and that I was not happy. At this point the agent told me to "Back Down" and not to yell at her. I remained adamant and eventually was presented the keys to a 4 year old BMW X3, but only after being admonished that my failure to pay $15 additional per day ($90) for a damage waiver would result in a $590 charge "If you bring it back with even a scratch". In the future when I travel to Myrtle Beach I can assure you I will not use Sixt. They were rude and dishonest to not just me but the 4 customers who preceded me to the counter.

If you need to rent a vehicle keep in mind this company doesn't allow you to take the vehicles out of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. I prepaid for the vehicle and was informed when I showed up to head out of town I was restricted to these 3 states. I had to book another vehicle on the spot with a national chain for a significantly larger charge. The woman working the counter at sixt told me I'd receive a refund after talking to her manager. Instead I get an emailed invoice stating I was a "no show". I'll be disputing the charge of course. These guys are clowns. Judging from the other reviews here it looks like I dodged a bullet by not having to drive one of their poorly maintained vehicles.

Complete scam and overcharged. The vehicle was in deplorable condition at 61,000 miles with cracks allover the windshield and tires that had absolutly no tread left. They did not have any other vehicles to excange out. Other customers in line were complainng about having UNSAFE vehicals as well. Customer service is non existent. You will get no where with a complaint. At one point in line the person in front of me was being curse at by one of the unprofessional employees. Nothing was done by the other employees standing around. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.

I wish I could give it less than 1 star. We arrived at Myrtle Beach Int. airport 12 July and headed to get our rental SUV which had been scheduled in Feb. I had even received confirmation with my rental time and type of vehicle. Upon arriving at the sixt counter we were told by an employee they had not had people return vehicles on time and were having a shortage. He then asked another employee, who I assume was in charge, if he could give us a pathfinder (our reservation was for a rogue or similar.) The manager starting yelling, "No, they aren't getting that!" Both my husband and I could hear the entire conversation. I was very displeased I even called the customer service number on my confirmation email where I was told they could take my complaint and have someone get back to me but could not remedy the situation at that time. Needless to say it is not August and I am still waiting on someone to get back to me. My husband again approached the counter and after some back and fourth they finally agreed to put us in the pathfinder. The manager had not even bothered to check our reservation or type of vehicle we supposedly had reserved. I have written a complaint on the company's website as well as my complaint with customer service that day. I have yet to be contacted. We were never even offered any complimentary services for our ordeal. I would never use this company again. I would much rather rent from a company who values their customers. They are not a reputable company and turns out I was charged more than what I was even quoted after all the hassle. So I guess I am lucky we were able to have a vehicle for our vacation but NEVER AGAIN. They guy at HERTZ was more helpful than the employees at sixt and was compassionate to my situation. I would have paid the extra money (almost $100 more as a walk in) to rent from him if my husband had not been able to arrange an SUV.

Rented a car on our honeymoon. And on our way back to the airport a local backed into our rental at a gas station. That was in june. Since then my fiance has been trying and trying to contact the company to get an damage report so we can submit it to the insurance company and get out money back since it was not out fault! Not once have we gotten a solid answer! Customer service it terrible!

Have rented twice from the Myrtle Beach location within the last six months. Both experiences were very good. Rental process was efficient, vehicles were both excellent, return process was as fast as I have experienced at any rental agency, and final billing was received very quickly via e-mail and was accurate.

I can't describe my experience with this company as anything other than fraud. They gave me a car with a flat tire and engine light on. When I went back into rental facility to return it and swap for another car, the agent was gone (45 minutes before closing). I had to get a rental from a competing company at the last minute at additional cost which Sixt naturally refused to compensate me for. To add on to this, I've been promised refunds twice by Sixt, once from the branch manager and once from corporate, and still have not received a refund after 6 weeks. Truly the most thoroughly unhelpful company I've ever dealt with.
