Have I made a verified prediction?
In the latest copy of Nature (vol 541, p 521 and p525) there are two papers that show that Earth and Moon accreted from a very narrow zone. That means that the giant collision model is wrong, and our water and biogenetic materials did not come from the asteroid belt. However, the theory outlined in my "Planetary formation and biogenesis" is, as far s I know, the only theory that requires these results, and this theory originated when I was writing a novel "Red Gold" about the colonisation and fraud on Mars. (The very first version of the theory is in an appendix.)

Story cartel is a site that offers free ebooks for a limited time in return for a fair review. The author has no idea who the reviewer is. Why not try it and help an author, and if you are going to do that, why not

SF is often quoted as "predicting" things, such as the mobile phone (Star Trek), and SF has more than once had giant corporations wielding political power. I have also contributed; the background of my Dreams Defiled involves the need to "clean and tidy up" our civilization, or else, thwarted by corporate power, and in this story, corporations are enormously powerful at running governments. Now, perhaps, we can claim another prediction approaching, as shown by the following links in which corporate influence seems to go well beyond where it should in a democracy:

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article43367.htm by Chris Hedges.
Do these links scare anyone?

A small boast. At the planetary science vision workshop (Feb 27 – March 1, 2017) Jim Green, NASA Planetary Science Division Director, made a proposal of putting a magnetic shield at the Mars-Sun-L1 position to protect Mars from high energy solar particles. See http://www.popularmechanics.com/space/moon-mars/a25493/magnetic-shield-mars-atmosphere/ . I made that proposal in Red Gold (published 2012)

Baer Books recently held a contest for the best opening lines in a book and they collected the best 20. The great news (for me) is I scored with Athene's Prophecy! The sentence:
Pallas Athene was in disgrace, but she felt that it was worth every gram of it for she had immortalized herself, starting over three thousand years before she was born.
Check out others at:

Ranh, a planet seeded with Cretaceous life from Earth that has evolved a technologically advanced race of raptors, many of who feel the proper place for a mammal is the larder. A theocracy, some want to remove mammals from the planet of creation, and efforts by a Terran delegation to obtain a peace treaty are stonewalled. A tale of plotting, conspiracy, religious fervour, murder, treachery, honour, diplomacy, and tail-ball.

A Kindle countdown discount for "Dreams Defiled" starts Sept 11.
Dreams Defiled explores how four people try to bring Earth's civilization up to standards suitable for humans to meet aliens, and how each is subverted, each by different ways. The novel is set in a future where resource shortages constrain the world's economy, and a new system is set up with the aim of being fair to all, but to better reward those who contribute more. However, whenever there are rules to be fair, there are opportunities to take from the ordinary people who seem unable to protect themselves. The novel also explores how a person who was basically innocent but too ambitious for his skills descends into evil.
