World Book Night 2014 has been launched with the announcement of the 20 titles that are to be given away by an army of reader enthusiasts on 23rd April 2014. If you are interested in volunteering to be a book giver and can help get these books into the hands of the 35% of people who do not read for pleasure then contact the Reading Agency via the link below.

Nearly 5000 children took part in Creepy House, last summer's Reading Challenge, and 3340 completed the challenge to read six books over the school holiday. This is what you thought:

"It was lovely to see my daughter so excited at the prospect of reading..."
"I think it helped me along with my reading"
" My son needs all the encouragement he can get which is what this provides"
"Lovely staff"

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this such a success; look out for Mythical Maze, the Summer Reading Challenge 2014 - you heard it here first!

Congratulations to Eleanor Catton for becoming the youngest ever winner of the Man Booker Prize with her novel The Luminaries. The story is set in the nineteenth century New Zealand goldfields where a series of unsolved crimes ensnares newcomer Walter Moody. It is described as a murder mystery with seances, corpses, lawsuits and puzzles and as a Kiwi Twin Peaks.
