Thanks to Beth Charbonneau, publisher of Our Homes magazine, for inviting me to speak at the Ottawa Home & Garden Show last weekend. I had the opportunity to provide advice to Ottawa home owners working on some pretty interesting design and decorating projects.

Meet David Bouwers from Ford Electric.  We met at the Ottawa Home & Garden Show, at the EY Centre, last weekend.  His company installs seamless electronic systems in homes.  Any home can be transformed into a smarthome.  At the touch of a button you can change the lighting, turn on the TV, lower or raise your drapes.  The possibilities are endless.  It's unreal!

Great start to the day!  Had breakfast at Gabriel's Pizza with Rosanna Saggio, the territory sales manager for Graber.  She traveled all the way from Montreal to show me Graber's beautiful choice of fabrics for all sorts of window treatments.  And I actually had freshly made pizza for breakfast!!!  Life is beautiful.

This past Saturday, Rotarians from the Club of Orleans braved the cold to help the Cardinal Creek Community Association with their annual Hockey Day in Orleans.  Congrats to the CCCA hosting such a fun day!

Imagine starting off your day in tears, while at the same time feeling uplifted by the human spirit.  That's exactly what happened during our Rotary breakfast meeting when our guest speaker, Marlene Quinton,  showed us a video on the people involved with DeafBlind Ontario Services (http://www.deafblindontario.com).  We learned the real-life stories of a handful of the 7,000 Ontarians who are deafblind (both visually and hearing impaired) and the intervenors who work one-on-one with their adult clients to help them communicate, live independently, and lead fulfilling lives. Yikes, very moving indeed.

The Rotary Club of Orleans had a very successful food drive on Saturday for the Orleans Cumberland Resource Center Food Bank. I was moved by the generosity of  the Orleans residents shopping that day at the Fallingbrook Metro.  We collected over 18 carts of food and over $380 in cash donations. A huge thank you too to the staff and management of Fallingbrook Metro.

If you're in need to chill out over the holidays, step into the Trinity Art Gallery at the Shenkman Arts Centre... I was there this morning and had fun in front of a slitscan camera.  What's that?  Read on...
