Racism isn't going to just cost Daniel Snyder millions in lost merchandise revenue, but it will cost thirty other NFL teams as well that share merchandising revenue.  Only the Dallas Cowboys will be unaffected because they have their own merchandising deal.  Nevermind that having a team with a racist name hurts the image of the entire NFL.  Hopefully the NFL finally comes to its senses and forces the name change.
The U.S. Patent Office has ruled the Washington Redskins nickname is "disparaging of Native Americans'' and that the team's federal trademarks for the name must be canceled.

There are five villains I would really love to see in a Justice League film.  This is certainly open for discussion.  Here I weigh the pros and cons of each supervillain that could potentially play a role in the Justice League film.  What do you think?

Brainiac
Though Darkseid is a popular choice, Brainiac rounds out the top of my list for a major supervillain threat.  Brainiac’s story is well known and he presents a major global threat.  He would be a great choice for coming full circle from Krypton.  Brainiac’s motivations could not only be to catalog Earth thanks to the presence of multiple super powered heroes, but also to retrieve the codex embedded in Superman’s cells.  Appreciation of Brainiac may be at an all-time high thanks to DC Universe Online and he’s the sort of villain that requires an intelligent solution to defeat.

One obvious pro of using Brainiac is he is yet another extraterrestrial threat.  This would justify the construction of the Watchtower for future use by the Justice League.   Brainiac also opens many potential story threads that could be left in his wake.  There is also the possibility to continue using Lex Luthor, who could strike a deal with Brainiac to deliver Superman.

The biggest problem with using Brainiac is Marvel Studios using Ultron in the next Avengers film.  Casual movie viewers who don’t know the history of the characters would assume Brainiac is a rip off of Ultron and it could negatively impact the film.  Given how flawless Warner has to be with execution to please critics, using Brainiac could be a huge risk.  But if done well, it could really pay off down the road.

Mongul
Like Brainiac, Mongul represents an exterrestrial threat.  His history with fighting the Green Lantern Corps also opens up some opportunity for audiences to get to know Hal Jordan (or John Stewart) a little more.   He is also not specifically a Superman villain.  Like Brainiac, we could see justification to build the Watchtower.  However, I would be afraid audiences would have a difficult time accepting the character.  Still, the gladiatorial aspects could be interesting.

Darkseid
Darkseid had to show up on my list eventually.  He’s a character that needs little introduction to comic fans.  Casual movie viewers could think he’s a Thanos ripoff because they don’t know any better, but Darkseid certainly opens up the opportunity to bring the world’s greatest supeheroes together to combat an invasion of Apokolips.  This could also be the opportunity for Zack Snyder to shine as a director and bring a very epic film to the masses.  Of course, this could be done with Brainiac, but I think this is the villain most of you want to see.

Anti-Monitor
If there was a dark horse candidate for this film, the Anti-Monitor would be it.  If the goal is to create a massive DC Cinematic Universe, it would be hard to go wrong with the Anti-Monitor.  He represents not only a global threat, but a universal threat.  In fact, he threatens the existence of the entire multiverse.  There are also loads of potential spin off possibilities from the use of the Anti-Monitor.  If there are plans to eventually revisit Galactus in a future Fantastic Four film, the appearance of the Anti-Monitor in Justice League would preempt it.

The main problem with the Anti-Monitor is he is just not a compelling villain on his own.  He would also require a massive set up that just would be next to impossible for a Justice League film.  As such, he may best be saved if there is any potential for another Green Lantern film that uses the Sinestro Corps storyline.  If Anti-Monitor is used in all his Crisis on Infinite Earth’s glory for the first Justice League film, not even Darkseid could top that level of threat.  And do you really think movie going audiences could accept the existence of the DC Multiverse?

Despero
If we see a Martian Manhunter storyline for Justice League, Despero would be a powerful foe for the entire Justice League.  Like Brainiac, Anti-Monitor, and Mongul, Despero represents a major extra-terrestrial threat for the League to confront.  However, I think movie going audiences would be turned off by the name.  Despero on film would also be very difficult to pull off.
