Awkward/rude host. Server was good and the soup bread bowl and salad were very good! Awesome view, would go back.

Even though this is in a tourist location and overall very "touristy" I love this Boudin. They have awesome animal shaped loaves of bread that also taste awesome. I had a veggie sandwich for lunch that was wonderful and I enjoyed looking at all of their interesting cookware and cookbooks while I waited. There's also a great window that you can watch the bread makers molding HUGE loaves into animals (think Crocodile) which is definitely neat for a minute or two. Overall, you won't be disappointed that you got trapped as a tourist here.

The appointed king of San Francisco bread bowls, Boudin Bakery is coined as the original San Francisco sourdough. Since 1849 the Boudin family has been cranking out some of the best sourdough around. The clam chowder at Boudin is good, but the sourdough bread bowl is where it’s at. We’re talking about a mild sour and tangy taste permeating bread that takes a little muscle to pull apart. Delicious.

While strolling down the San Francisco Waterfront, take a moment to stop by Boudin's. From the sidewalk, you can watch the bread-makers create all kinds of cute loaves - from teddy bears to alligators. The staff inside can even chat with you through the glass window using a clever intercom system. But be warned - once you stop and smell the fresh bread, you'll probably be wondering in for a closer look. If you're just looking for a quick snack, the cafe serves clam chowder in bread bowls. However, try to avoid the lunch rush, or you'll be eating it standing up.

Delicious, simple food. I've only had breakfast here and while there aren't a ton of options (a few sandwiches, scrambles, etc.), everything is wonderful and utilizes their strength - a phenomenal sourdough. The veggie scramble is tasty and significant portion. The sourdough waffle is a treat that everyone should try at least once. (It's not as sweet due to the sourdough, so it's a distinct, interesting, light and lovely taste.) I've heard the coffee is great, too.

Great place for a bowl of clam chowder in an authentic sourdough bowl. If you take it to go, there are many places to eat along Fisherman's Wharf. The price is not bad for San Francisco. There is no bacon in the chowder.
