Inspired by a client John who had lost his home his job his US green card his wife and his daughter due to a poisonous divorce.Yet every time he met me I got the broadest of smiles and warmest of handshakes. So at our 3rd meeting I asked him how he remained so upbeat."Simple Simon I have a choice each morning to be happy or miserable.I just choose the former"What a great lesson!

I continue to be inspired by my clients.A young lady has returned after 2 years to help her make her next career move. She is calm composed self assured and confident. She has a flat in Wimbledon and works in Mayfair.
Contrast that with when she first came to me in Swindon(sorry Swindon)-a broken wreck as a result of incessant bullying by her macho boss. She has totally reinvented herself. So good to see.

Big breakthrough-2 lady clients, one white from Brazil, one black from the French Caribbean. Both had inferiority complexes towards Europeans but both are realising they have achieved more than 99% of Europeans since they arrived on these shores(very much including me!).Fabulous to destroy myths and illusions

How about this for cute job hunting!A client noticed a guy on linked in had recently connected with a number of recruiters. Conclusion he must be on the move so she sent her cv the employer.Result so far?2 interviews for a job that is perfect for her!

A great example of generous networking.Katrina(who quit her job)has helped 4 colleagues to get jobs through introductions even though she remains unemployed. However I am certain that won't be for long

To win a job offer against stiff completion you need to approach it like a military campaign and prepare with the same degree of detailed planning.
As far as you can control the interview by ensuring you communicate the information you want them to have.Yes answer their questions but then add your achievements skills and talents by tacking on a statement to the end of your answer to the question
Go in there with the mindset 'I am going to blow their socks off'Prepare a leave behind of the business case to hire you.
Dress so that you radiate efficiency and smartness
Speak with energy intensity and eagerness for the job and employer.
Above all BE YOURSELF!

A client Jan O'Connor writes:
Most of us are not trained to manage and develop ourselves and our careers, yet any change desired or enforced is vital to our future.
To attempt to make such changes on our own without using a professional career coach is foolhardy in the extreme.
Talk to Simon-you don't know what you don't know!
