First ever test stuff in preparation for videos about pattern cutting! Have to sort out overhead camera as well, but just thought I'd see what the result was like with my Fuji X10 camera on a tripod...

Skype Classes!

Well, lots going on as usual, including getting a bit more painting done of wedding dresses.

But I digress.....!

The real reason for me talking to you right now is to let you know about Skype pattern cutting classes that I have just started doing, alongside the regular teaching in my studio.
I've been thinking about doing this for ages now, but in the last couple of weeks, due to force of circumstances for my student (who had been coming in person), I suggested Skyping until she's able to resume actual visits to the studio.

The advantage of course, is that there's no loss of continuity, and although progress is a little slower than if you were here in person, it's not a huge disadvantage.
For example, I might have to draw a little diagram to explain what I mean, which takes a minute or two longer, but that's not a big deal in the scheme of things, I hope you'd agree!

It seems to be very successful so far, but this is based upon the fact of my student having come for 'in person' classes initially. So I know her capabilities and can plan the class accordingly - or at least, know how to progress!

If of course, you had recently done a pattern cutting course elsewhere and needed a refresher, or to learn something specific that you didn't already know, but had basic knowledge, then you may not need to come in person first.

So if you live a long distance away from me in Oxfordshire, (I've had an enquiry from Texas, believe it or not!), but would love to learn pattern cutting and could manage a few 'in person' classes first off, this may be for you, or if you come regularly and then can't come for some reason - car breaks down, you are needed elsewhere soon after so travel time is difficult please just get in touch , and we can talk and get it sorted.

Here's a link to the classes page of my website describing the current classes, courses and workshops in pattern cutting / sewing / fitting so just email me or reply to this email as you would any other, tell me what you'd like to learn, and we can arrange days and times to suit.

And never forget that for your most 'out there' wedding dress or outfit, or for your next Hollywood premiere dress, you know where I am!

My portraits of wedding dresses can be seen here - www.dressfresco.co.uk - they are oils on canvas, so made to last......have a look!

You can commission a painting of your own wedding dress as a way of always keeping it on view instead of packed away in a cupboard or the dusty attic....

Or commission one as a present - from the husband on the first wedding anniversary, the couple's parents, a best friend of the bride, a joint present from the bridesmaids....

The image can then be printed and used for thank you cards, or printed onto many other sizes, framed and given as presents.

Everybody loves art, make your place home with a romantic oil painting on canvas. The iconic wedding dress can be seen and enjoyed for ever....

Haven't been able to work on this for a whole week - the black one! (sigh...) But a bit more done yesterday, at last!
To fill you in: the parallel thread of my bespoke wedding dress business, ('Atelier by Bobbie Seagroatt'), is called 'Dressfresco', and it solves the problem of what to do with your beautiful, precious wedding dress after the big day... Instead of packing it away in the loft, or a box in a cupboard never to be seen again, you can commission a fantastic oil painting of it, in all it's fresh glory, instead. The painting can also then be scanned, and the image printed up in smaller sizes or even thank you cards for wedding presents. What a wonderful way to keep romance alive for your whole life!
So there's the idea, and here is a little message for husbands / wives / partners who would like to partake:
If you would like to commission a fabulous oil painting of your daughter's/your wife's/your bride's/your friend's wedding dress and give it to her for a totally unique wedding present/ anniversary present, or of a favourite dress for a big birthday/anniversary present, or give a painting as a special birthday present, (instead of the dress being packed away in a box or a cupboard), please contact me here, or at dressfresco@gmail.com, phone 07941 619992 or email via the website on www.dressfresco.co.uk/contact.
See images of other paintings, book a commission, and how I work, at www.dressfresco.co.uk
