In late November (or was it December), the Flickr people offered ex-pro account holders (like me) a free re-pro-ization until (I think) March 31st.

This DID have the desired effect—I reinvigorated my tiny visual online life and re-discovered what I liked about the service. I went out and shot things. I also uploaded stuff like what you see below—television graphics I've brought forward into the HD world out of an interest in a) preservation and 2) working on my vector-based Photoshop skills.

So will I renew the account? I still have 30 days or so to make up my mind about that. And who knows—Melissa Mayer may reconfigure the Caterina Fake/Stewart Butterfield creation into something even more compelling.

Until then, I'm going to continue tossing images here, there, and in a few places I haven't thought of yet.

Behold, tumbling iPads! (That's how you know it's modern.) Also, just a lot of hand-crafted television-like stuff.

Adobe After Effects began life as CoSA After Effects some 20 years ago this month-ish. The After Effects folks are celebrating in various ways, including collecting a batch of stories about designers' experiences with their fine program. Here's mine: http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2013/02/ae-j-c-burns.html

I'm going to toss some fine, freshly-rendered high-definition US TV graphics from the pre-high-definition past here, just as a science experiment. Because, of course, in the olden days, television was 4x3. It was a very scant number of pixels. Heck, it wasn't even pixels.
