My wife and I got the "famous" burgers, but didn't find them that famous. And don't be fooled, the $9 burger doesn't even come with fries (add $2, and really not worth it). Best part of the burger was the creamy cheese spread. We agreed that Chiptole would've been a way better choice. First time here, may come back if we really feel like dropping more money to taste the sandwiches, but won't expect anything special. If visiting the city, we say: Find something better!

Awesome Dooley burgers, good saint Louis style food, great selection of beers and nice atmosphere!

The food is good, everything else ... not so much. As a SLU student, I and practically every other undergrad living about a block away had been waiting for a cheap burger place/bar to open up -- at least since I'd gotten there. When Dooley's finally opened we were pretty excited and went there a few times. The food is good -- especially the cheese on the burgers and the fries. The drinks are also decently priced and it's about a five minute walk from campus. But after a while the service and the lack of consistent hours started to take a turn. There have been quite a few nights when a group of us (SLU kids) have been hungry and wandered over to this area looking for something to eat. Sometimes Dooley's is open -- sometimes it's not (and we've never been there past 10.) They were once closed at 7pm on a Tuesday. I find that weird since most college kids don't even eat dinner until 7 or 8. Eventually just asked a waiter who responded that they just kinda close when they don't have business; i.e. there are no set hours. Okay. I've had a few waiters there who weren't quite familiar with the menu, or just seemed ... not sober... Once, I found a fruit fly floating in my margarita and the waitress seemed a little amused and not at all apologetic. In fact her response was, "Oh ... yeah we have those back there [in the kitchen]." WTF. Why would tell a customer that? She didn't even offer to comp the drink, just said she'd bring me another one (I declined). My friends and I haven't been back since. I took my parents once when they visited. On a recent visit they asked to go back and I wouldn't. Since The Shack opened in place of Laclede's we just go there. Closer to campus -- which I know Dooley's can't compete with now -- the food is consistently good, the service is great and the prices are cheap. The food in general is not as good as Dooley's BUT everything else rates higher. Since Dooley's was open a good 8 or 9 months before the Shack they had a clear chance to get a steady stream of SLU business but it might be too late now. Maybe if they hired more SLU kids that would bring in more business since we tend to visit our friends who work at restaurants?

The server Peter was awesome! Very helpful! Terrific! Coolest guy ever! And the burger was outstanding, too! Best burger in town without a doubt. I can't wait to go back and get some of their delicious fries!

Atmosphere isn't bad though it's a bit confusing. You expect an English pub by their icon (name is Irish though) but get more of an Irish American burger joint. Burgers seemed unique and were filling. Beers were between 4.5-5.5$
