Residents reported "health impacts during the visible emissions, including headaches, dizziness and vertigo". The PA DEP remains unresponsive, not even answering phones, so the Clean Air Council is seeking federal intervention for citizens.

Most Americans don't know a thing about fracking - one of the most dangerous energy sector practices ever developed - are you in the know?

This (Most Americans don't know a thing about fracking) is what makes PA's current fracking situation a growing nightmare. Gov. Corbett is set to give $1.7 billion in tax breaks to Shell Oil to subsidize fracking. How much is being set aside to pump in clean, fresh water when all ours is contaminated? I'm not against drilling for natural gas, but I'm for finding much safer ways to do it. Legislators must start thinking of long-term consequences instead of just short-term gains. And citizens must hold them accountable to do so.

Tell U.S. Congress that now is not the time to raise taxes on domestic renewable energy sources that create thousands of jobs and make America stronger; the Production Tax Credit for American wind energy must be extended.

Protecting everyone's right to breathe clean air!
Introduction

Clean Air Council is a member- supported, non-profit environmental organization dedicated to protecting everyone's right to breathe clean air. The Council works through public education, community advocacy, and government oversight to ensure enforcement of environmental laws.

The Council was founded in 1967 by a group of forward-looking community leaders, policy makers, and progressive business leaders. Headquartered in Philadelphia, the Council made a name for itself by the mid-1970s as the result of two major achievements: establishing and distributing a daily regional air quality index report (still used to this day); and forcing Pennsylvania to implement its vehicle emissions testing program. The Council has now grown to include 8,000 members and expanded its programmatic focus to include children’s environmental health, energy, climate change, waste and recycling, and transportation. The Council has also established an indoor air quality resource center for the public and holds the Philadelphia area’s largest Earth Day event, the Annual 5k Run for Clean Air.
