Mind freeze or not knowing what to say is one of the  hardest  aspects  of social anxiety.  Isn't it interesting that everyone with Social Anxiety has  the same exact experiences.  I am a CBT psychologist who specialized in Social Anxiety.  Spontaneity occurs when you just don't care about what is going to happen.  The paradoxical remedy is to do what is most frightening, to actually attract attention enough times, that you just don't care.

Hi all! I'd just like to share an observation of mine with all of you. I've suffered with social anxiety for most of my life and by my own admission I'm very introverted. Very often, I've promised myself on a certain day, or at a certain time, I will try and kick start a conversation or put myself in a situation where I'm forced to be more social than usual, only to meet with failure because the courage wasn't there. My successes have come when I've been spontaneous and just decided right at that specific time to go through with something that I would ordinarily shy away from. I'm no expert and have no professional training in this area, but maybe the more we think about and plan things, the more time we have to talk ourselves out of it and blow it out of proportion. Be spontaneous and see if it helps. Good luck to you all!
