Each year, STCU challenges high school students to start a movement, launch an innovation, brighten a life, and change the world. We call it Hundred Dollar Project ― and it’s time to pick a winner!

The students are asked to dream up projects that could change the world. Teams with the best ideas get $100 to carry them out. For the past month, this year’s Hundred Dollar Project finalists have been documenting their efforts.

A few days ago, our financial education team spent an afternoon at the Spokane Valley YMCA of the Inland Northwest with K-6 kids, talking about saving, spending, and sharing. The kids had to make a decision on what type of graham cracker to buy for a classroom celebration party.

Using three different brands of graham crackers, they had to develop criteria (taste, smell and crunchiness) and rank the crackers. Then we talked about total costs, unit costs, alternatives, and trade off. The kids then decided which cracker was "worth it".

A not-for-profit, member-owned credit union in the Inland Northwest. Federally insured by NCUA.
Introduction

Members coming together to invest in our community. It’s what being “here for good” is all about.

That's the spirit of STCU's founders, who opened the credit union in 1934 with your future in mind. STCU is now one of the Inland Northwest’s largest and most successful credit unions, but as a member-owned, not-for-profit financial institution, we succeed when our members do.
