- WLKY NewsSports Reporter / Sports Anchor, present
Nearly two months in to my time at WLKY, I found myself covering the Central football team as they prepared for the 2013 season. While there, Coach Ty Scroggins decided the team should have an impromptu Q & A with me. One of the questions asked by a player was, what's the one quality/virtue you had to have to get to where I was today. Instantly, I only had one thought come to mind.
I think patience is the one word that could really describe how I found myself here in Louisville and with the WLKY team. Before joining the newsroom, I spent 6 and a half years with another CBS affiliate, WYMT, located in Hazard, Kentucky. WYMT was my first on air job in television and really set the ground work for who I am as a sports reporter today. Although Hazard and the surrounding areas were small towns, WYMT itself worked more like a big market station and was a great place to learn the ropes.
I joined WYMT in 2007, and prior to that, I worked for ESPN for four years in both Bristol, Connecticut and New York City. While with ESPN, I worked behind the scenes in production where I worked on numerous shows like SportsCenter, ESPNews and Baseball Tonight before spending two year with ESPN2's First Take (known as Cold Pizza at the time). Having the knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes as well as in front of the camera is something I will never take for granted.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, I have lived all over the Northeast part of the country before moving to Kentucky in 2007. I went to high school in New Hampshire at a school named New Hampton School. I then went to Stonehill College just outside of Boston, MA where I studied and received a degree in Communication.
I am really looking forward to my time here in Louisville, as this is a great sports town with a ton of things always going on. The people here have already welcomed me as their own, which I am highly grateful for. I hope to get to know as many people as I can here, and if you see me in the field covering a story, please feel free to come chat.
