I've been doing a video tutorial series where we're building a game in C# using Unity 4.3's new 2D techniques.  This part adds player movement, an on-screen score component and tweaks a few things to work better.

Watch Part 4 here: Unity 4.3 2D Game Tutorial -- Part 4 or if you haven't watched the others, catch the whole playlist over here http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrE-eHx_PRyrwsKS2ld945JlbUynXw6Fi

Any feedback or questions are welcome here or there.  The series has been well received so far.

This is something that I've done to start teaching game design and development with #Unity3D.  Please give it a watch, especially if you've wanted to build games and apps, but didn't know where to start.  We start from the ground up.

This is a great introductory post on creating meshes within #Unity3D -- If you've never dug into the verts and triangles and uv coordinates that make up the models we all use... this would be a great place to start.  :)

I'm writing a tutorial series on making voxel terrain in unity, this is part one: http://studentgamedev.blogspot.no/2013/08/unity-voxel-tutorial-part-1-generating.html It starts off basic, part one is just rendering a textured square.

Getting ready to record my new video for my +How To Build Games  website.  This one picks up where lesson 2 left off in the Unity 2D series and I show you how to make an awesome object spawner to take our game to the next level.

If you haven't seen the previous videos yet, the playlist is over here: http://www.youtube.com/user/HowToBuildGames/videos?flow=list&view=1

My review of Unity 4.x Game AI Programming by Packt Publishing.

Short version: I liked it (4.5/5 stars)
If you have a little bit of experience with Unity and want to learn some of the basics of AI in the context of game development, this is a great book to do so. They don't necessarily go into great detail on any of the subjects, but they do recommend other books on the subject if you want to dig further. That said, if you've done much AI in the past, most of this is probably going to be too simplistic and if you haven't used Unity a lot or are sti...

I started reading it too, but so far it seems like a lot of filler content. The first 10% of the book is just legalese, table of contents and bla bla. I hope the 300 pages left for real content is enough to properly scratch the surface of writing AI code. I fear that a lot of the content will be how Unity works, and that's not really too interesting.

Not much here yet, but the best way to keep up to speed on what's happening with this new project of mine would be to get on the email list on the website: http://howtobuildgames.com/
A free, online, video-based course that teaches people how to design and develop video games for iPhone and iPad, Android and Desktop computers using Unity 3D.

I build awesome, mostly with Unity 3D. And I've recently started teaching other people how to do that, too.
Introduction
Freelance/Contract programmer of iPhone/iPad apps, Unity 3D programs, PHP/MySQL and a couple of universal iOS apps about running over clowns (Sparky the Road Clown) and about an angry santa (Santa Hates You, But Loves Me) -- both free in the app store.

When I'm not doing freelance work, I'm taking the 4+ years of Unity 3D and app development experience I have and teaching other people how to do that via my newest venture, How to Build Games.  I'm creating 2 videos a month teaching game design and development with Unity 3D and the response so far has been fantastic.  A website with a lot more stuff is coming soon.
