Travel to Moc Chau

Moc Chau Plateau is in Moc Chau District, Son La Province, about 200km northwest of Hanoi. Located at the height of 1,050m above sea level, Moc Chau is a steppe with green tea hills, the widest and the most beautiful grass fields in the North's mountainous areas.

Moc Chau has a temperate climate. It is cool in summer with average temperature of 20oC, a bit cold in autumn, freezing in winter and warm in spring. Coming here in winter or spring – the most beautiful season in Moc Chau, tourists will have chances to contemplate the breathtaking scenery of blooming flowers. Areas around Sao Xanh hotel (Moc Chau Town), the pine forest in Ang Village (Dong Sang Commune), Dai Yem Waterfall (Muong Sang Commune), Pa Phach Village (Dong Sang Commune)... are some of the most beautiful spots.

In winter, there is full of fogs covering over the colorful orange wild sunflowers combining with the red poinsettia flowers blooming along roadsides. When spring comes, the whole Moc Chau is bright with colorful blooming white pumpkin and apricot flowers. Warm sunlight is spreading across the steppe, and then sometimes gives way for light cold drizzles. Far away, fields of white mustard flowers are spreading as far as the eyes could see, crawling in slope hillsides. Arriving in Moc Chau, tourists can visit landscapes and learn more about traditional cultures of Thai, Mong people... living in this area.

Ban Gioc Waterfall
This breathtaking waterfall, the largest in Vietnam, straddles the China - Vietnam border. The water is particularly thunderous in the wet season but is still beautiful during the dry. You can take a raft out into the river to the base of the falls and greet Chinese tourists doing the same from the other side. Ban Gioc is about 85km from Cao Bang, about 3 hours away.

Ninh Chu Beach

5 km south of Phan Rang, in Ninh Thuan province, Ninh Chu beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam.

Ninh Thuan province prides itself in several beautiful beaches, among which is Ninh Chu Beach, with more than 10-km length and the shape of a nice crescent. Ninh Chu, located in Binh Son, Van Hai commune, Ninh Thuan province, is one of the top beaches of the Middle of Vietnam for every tourist, who comes here to explore an extremely different landscape.

A strange beauty
Ninh Chu is attractive with rows of popla humming in the wind just nearby the beach as if they were whispering to the blue sea and singing about its fine sand dune - the daughter of the sea and sky. Thanks to this, you can lie down on the popla leaf carpet, without umbrella or bench, to restfully watch the sky.

The sand is yellowish, quite clean and fine. The beach features special shape of a crescent, with a very clean and charming sea. The original beauty of Ninh Chu is not for a hurry trip but carefree one, so as to enjoy the fresh air of the sea area. Entertaining yourself freely in the cool and blue water, contemplating purple sunset on the long stretching sandal slopes, and the small dreamlike villages near the seaport, will make you feel attached to the nature, clear sky and peaceful clouds and water.

Specialty. Nearby the beach, there are also Nai pond, which is full of fish, shrimp, prawn, lobster, craw-fish, cuttle-fish, etc., Ca Du and Da Chong mountains with different sized rocks piling up, which create a harmonious natural view.

Hotels and restaurants. There are not many luxurious hotels and restaurants here, thus Ninh Chu welcomes tourists by its unpretentious heartiness. Suggested accommodation is the simple but tidy and nice hostels, built just nearby in form of communal house, standing harmoniously with nature.

Entertainment types. Like other beaches, the popular types of entertainment here are swimming, sailing, diving, fishing, sun-bathing, and so on. What is more here might be the ideal walking trips. From Ninh Chu, tourists can travel to Tri Thuy hamlet, where exists a harmonious landscape of sea-view and mountain-view. The mountain is not full of plants or grass, but lots of grayish white rock-gardens with different heights, which are adorned with some small trees. On the mountain side stands some ancient pagodas and scattering small tile-roofed houses. Walking on a few steps, you will reach a small wild beach, which is beautiful with green poplar forest and rocks of weird shapes on sand. Should you need a nice quiet space to hide from hasty daily life, this is the ideal selection!

Perhaps, you get a bit tired of walking, dropping by some grape gardens on your way and having some fresh grapes might boost your energy. The wonderful taste of fresh grapes to be eaten at the gardens would never fade away in your mind!

Cost. Another thing, besides the nice landscape, is that tourists could save a lot when choosing Ninh Chu beach as a destination for their vacation. The tidy, clean, and fairly good-conditioned hotels and hostels are at cheap prices. Moreover, they are mostly nearby the beach, which helps save transportation cost. The food is of quite deliciousness, but at only reasonable prices, too, and available almost everywhere. If going on a tour to Ninh Thuan, Ninh Chu beach should be put in your visiting list.

TOP 5 THINGS TO SEE IN HUE

1. Forbidden City: Lies on the northern shore of the Perfume River just a 15-minute walk from the Hue Backpackers’ Hostel. At the entrance of the Ngan gate into the Citadel are the Nine Holy Cannons cast from melted down bronze wares from the Tay Son dynasty. The cannons are named after the four seasons and five elements (metal, earth, wood, water and fire) and are known as the “Holy Invincible Generals”. They have never been used for military purposes and are the guardian spirits of the Citadel.

2. Thien Mu Pagoda: Also on the north shore of the Perfume River about 3km from the Citadel. You can get there by dragon boat along the river, or for those feeling more energetic, a pleasant bicycle ride. The Thien Mu pagoda is regarded as the unofficial symbol of the former imperial capital. Today it is the home of the Austin motor vehicle which drove Thich Quang Duc to his self-immolation in Saigon in 1963 in protest against the Diem regime. It is still home to many monks and a holy site visited by many everyday.

3. Tombs of the Emperors: 7 tombs in all scatter the countryside around Hue and are monuments to 9 of the 13 rulers of the Nguyen Dynasty, usually built and designed during the emperor’s lifetime. The 3 most visited are Minh Mang, Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. The remaining 4 are less visited but still have interesting features, with Duc Duc, Thanh Thai and Duy Tan being housed in the same tomb.

4. Japanese Bridge: Named because of its resemblence to the Japanese Bridge in Hoi An. Its construction was initiated by Tran Thi Dao, the wife of a high ranking Mandarin in the court of Emperor Le Hien Tong, sometime between 1740 and 1746. Originally it was built to offer better transportation and communication for the village that lines either side of the canal. In 1925 Emperor Khai Dinh ordered the villagers to erect an altar dedicated to Tran Thi Dao on the bridge. Many locals still travel to the town to visit her tomb.

5. Dong Ba Markets: The largest market place in central Vietnam, this is definitely a place to visit to immerse yourself in the local culture. Tourists can see all the typical features of a traditional Vietnamese market, such as, the sampan landing, the bus station and the bazaars. Dong Ba market is considered a paradise for snapshots of daily activities as well as for shopping with everything from souvenir items to bronze goods, Hue sesame sweetmeat, conical poem hats, just to name a few. Should you find interest in Vietnamese food or culture, you’d better come here to explore.

Hien Luong Bridge (in Quang Tri)

Hien Luong Bridge and the Ben Hai River will be an enduring symbol of the everlasting desire for peace, national independence and reunification.

The Geneva Agreements on Vietnam signed in 1954 divided the country into North and South Vietnam at the 17th Parallel where the Ben Hai River runs through the central province of Quang Tri. The temporary division was only expected to last two years, but in fact it stood for 21 years through the great struggle for national reunification.

Throughout this prolonged period, the Hien Luong Bridge in Vinh Thanh village in Vinh Linh district of Quang Tri province became a symbol of division, expectations and the pain of loss.

The bridge represents the desire for national reunification. The soldiers and people of Quang Tri, and all of Vietnam, struggled bravely, loyally and heroically, leaving behind glorious pages in the history of the fight to achieve the current national independence.

It was a political, diplomatic and military battlefield. War ended long time ago and Hien Luong Bridge is a historic witness of Vietnam's tragic but ultimately victorious past.
