Local Concrete Faced Insulation "Making the Rounds" in BC with Tech-Crete CFI Concrete Faced Insulating Wall Panels

Splatsin First Nation Circular Community Center Perimeter Grade Beam is Insulated and Finished with Locally Manufactured Tech-Crete CFI in Enderby British Columbia.

InterCoast Building Solutions are pleased to report that a BC produced product, Tech-Crete Concrete Faced Insulation, was chosen by the Architects Ted J. Thomas & Associates to insulate and finish the perimeter grade beam on the sides of this important 33,581 sqft cultural building in Enderby BC. Proving that even on a round building such as this, durable Tech-Crete Concrete Faced Insulation with its invisible rail fixing system can be readily mechanically fastened.

ARCHITECTURAL LOUVERS - CHANGING BEAST TO BEAUTY

Parkade Walls in Vancouver Can be Beautiful with the Right Architectural Louvers!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and this picture clearly illustrates the creative use of louvers as a major design element for ground-floor parkades. What the Architect has achieved here is a clean flowing linear design incorporating louvers in a multifunctional role. Note the detail just above the parking entrance too. The Architectural Louvers on this project perfectly combine the ergonomic necessities with the aesthetic niceties.

These architectural louvers play a key role as:
1. Fully functional louvers
2. Passive louvers with insulated blank-off panels behind
3. Discrete Passage door access (in this case to access gas meters and service cupboards)

Visit our website to see more design ideas on how architectural #louvers can be incorporated into the architectural beautification of building cladding systems in #Vancouver and Western Canada.

“CITIZEN CITY” BOOK REVIEW

A Book Specifically for the British Columbia Construction Market

Just before presenting a recent lunch and learn at Henriquez Partners Architects, I discovered “Citizen City” a book coauthored by Gregory Henriquez promoting the advancement of Cultural Sustainability by achieving socially valuable urban planning goals.

The net result of the lesson I learned from this book – I gained a better understanding of what the architectural community goes through when dealing with user groups especially those as diverse within the city of Vancouver. Perhaps Gregory’s quote sums it up best of all. ”Architects have an incredible ability to illustrate ideas and should be actively participating in meaningful civic dialogue.”

The more that suppliers of commercial construction products understand the other end of the architect / user group relationship, the better we will be able to position their product lines for architectural consideration. All of us have the ability to shape our community and advance Cultural Sustainability by the products we represent in the buildings the architects design using these products.

I highly recommended this book for inclusion in the Vancouver construction community’s “must read” list.

Architectural Louver & Sunshade Design and Selection for Architects in Vancouver & Western Canada

We’ve found during several recent Learning Events and meetings, that with the increasing adoption of higher efficiency building design, and the prevalence of #PassiveHouse and #NetZero projects in #Vancouver, #Calgary & Western Canada, louver and sunshade design and selection has become a concern to Architects.

We recognize that our local Architects are not only concerned about how important louvers are in terms of providing passive solar gain in the winter months and cooling shade in summer but also how useful louvers can be in providing privacy in areas of high building density such as downtown #Vancouver or #Calgary, without negatively impacting the overall building envelope aesthetics...

Find out the Essential Design Elements to keep in mind when choosing your manufacturer of Architectural Louvers and Sunshades here... https://goo.gl/e4Vwhr
