THOUGHT: My latest view on Google+ is that they need to move quickly to have tablet apps specifically Flipboard, Editions and Zite. I've also observed that since Facebook has changed its feed, the audience is less interested in new-focused posts, and seem to be enjoying funny pictures.

Part of the picture phenomenon you are seeing relates to Facebook's PageRank algorithm, which considers posts containing media to be more relevant to its users, thus making them more likely to appear in the Top News section of a news feed. Also, Tom, you are right on about the way G+ is actively pushing away developers. A network can't be built within an anti-social framework and expect to succede. Finally, Google recently (quietly) announced that G+ will support fake identities instead of requiring users to "be" themselves. This tells me it has given up on making G+ a mainstream option for people to use as their primary network, & is instead shifting to make it a secondary, niche, network.

I'm going to try a new hypothesis about Google+. Here it goes. I think the most challenged channel by it other than Facebook and Linked in is Quora.

I feel like the audience here, and the connections are much more of the "thinking" and interacting type. Easy to post inquiries to targeted circles and the commenting, at least early stage is perhaps more thougthful. Anyone else agree?

All the super nerdy nerds like me migrated here first and I love it. I agree with your hypothesis.

I don't think it's like Google Buzz at all..think it could be a game-changer. If people can get over the conceptual hurdle of circles..

One immediate reaction to Google+ is that it doesn't feel very private. Feels like circles could easily be more public than one might want them to be. Other impressions?

But of course the latter caveat is true of any electronic form of communication...

In fact, I've seen some posts pop up where people are speculating that G+ could be a single platform for all forms of msg'ing: mail, sms, voice, videochat, IM...
