3 good reasons to train the heel hook, even if you mostly do gi-based BJJ....

http://www.grapplearts.com/heel-hook-train-safely/
The heel hook is one of the most devastating leglocks you can apply! Instead of attacking the big muscles of the leg (like the quads, hamstrings, or glutes) the heel hook targets the small ligaments of the knee and the ankle. This means that you can really screw up someone's leg if you apply it in anger. The heel hook is banned in most clubs and illegal in almost all gi tournaments. But even though it's not legal you should still learn and pract...

If you're going to spend the time training to compete then you better also spend the time learning the rules of the competition. Here's a video guide to the IBJJF competition rules

New article on the strong and weak sides of rearmount. Don't make this mistake ever again!
At the bottom of this article is a new video talking about the correct and incorrect side of rearmount. But first a little background... Nowadays most grapplers are realising that their default grip in the rearmount should be the over-under grip (also known as the 'seatbelt' or the 'harness'). This arm position offers a ton of control over your opponent but also many different attacking options. If you're unfamiliar with the over-under grip, or w...

Here's a bit more about what makes The BJJ Back Attack Formula different...
The newest Grapplearts instructional was officially released today, and it's called 'The Back Attacks Formula!' And it's one of the very best instructionals that I’ve ever been involved in or have seen on the market. Not surprisingly Back Attacks Formula about taking the back from every position, staying on the back no matter how your opponent tries to escape, and then submitting your opponent from there. It’s available right now with a 50% new r...

Here's a story about how I tapped out way early to a triangle choke and how it relates to the turnaround time in the Everest Death Zone above 26,000 feet

Just released the brand new cradle-to-grave guide to the rearmount in BJJ. Everything from taking the back, to keeping the back, to dominating and submitting people from there. I think it's fantastic, and I hope you agree!

Terrible. Price gouging combined with high pressure sales tactics. First these pirates come and charge me $550 to switch out a $10 thermocouple and install a $20 thermostat (which took about 30 minutes). Then as soon as their service guy leaves their salesman comes by and tries to give me a scare-tactic high-pressure close on buying a new furnace from them right away. Threatens to shut off my furnace and report me to the authorities unless I pay them to do more work on my furnace. I'd rather heat my house with my electric stove for the whole winter than call these guys again.
