Gutters are the plumbing for the outside of your house.

You wouldn't let your sink, tub, or toilet get so clogged that it couldn't perform the function of moving water away....so don't do that with your gutters, it's not a planter box.

If the idea of climbing up there to clean them out scares you, then give me a call. I service gutter at more than 400 homes in the Twin Cities each year, and would love to help you too. 612-730-3920

Ice Dam Prevention starts before the first snow fall. If your roof has had issues in previous winters, use the last part of summer/fall to:
-Increase attic insulation and ventilation
-Install heat cables

If you do get an ice dam this winter, only use a professional that uses low pressure steam. 612-730-3920

We've had a busy fall cleaning gutters to help Twin Cities home owners prepare for a snowy winter.  Having gutters that are clean allows water to flow off the roof and away from the home reducing the likelihood of water damage.  As snow begins to accumulate on the roof, it is recommended to clear it every 3-4" of accumulation.   In the event that an ice dam forms on the eaves of your roof, call us and we'll help you remove them using low pressure steam (the only safe method).

In the event that you call another company, please make sure that they are also using steam. Some companies try to save a few dollars using heated pressure washers which operate around 3,000 psi and will cause premature shingle failure.  And whatever you do, please don't let anyone (including your husband) use a hammer and chisel. I see roofs all the time marred with chisel marks.

Last year was an epic year for ice dam formation.  The large snow fall totals and historic cold temperatures created ideal conditions.  We are off to an early start this fall with some areas around the Twin Cities receiving 10+ inches of snow.  Don't wait until water starts coming into your home, If you start to see ice form on the edge of your roof, it is time to call.

In just a few short weeks temperatures will begin to drop, and clogged gutters will freeze leading to an increased chance of Ice Dam formation.   Having a professional clean your gutters before winter will help keep your feet safely on the ground and minimize more costly problems down the road.

We see lots of random items while cleaning gutters, normally tennis balls. This is the first coconut that we've come across.  When was the last time your gutters were cleaned?
