Something wicked this way comes. And it sure did, about 10 minutes later, slush blizzard from hell!

However, before armegeddon struck, conditions around the reservoir were fantastic!

I don't know weather it's possible to link into Griffiths Woods. I followed some trails NNW till I got close to Weasel Head Rd. Then I crossed the river and ended up staying in the Weasel Head area. I suspect at this time of year one could ride the frozen river bed to Griffiths Woods. That would be a fun Saturday trek. Your right, there are a lot of trails to play on in that area.

Has anyone tried fatbiking in the Sibbald Flats area? There is a fun summer MTB loop there, just not sure if people snowshoe it regularly.

We went last year, it was fairly well trodden. I have also ridden the road past the winter gate. Most years they allow snowmobiles (motorized grooming machines) from there right around the Elbow loop. This year the loop is closed to snowmobiles so I don't know if the slednecks will have groomed it or not.
Even cox hill was well snowshoed when we went last year, but this year has lots more snow.

Hey folks. I know fatbike options are getting low out there, just want to mention we have qty-2 of these KHS fatbikes in stock, both 17".

Cheers!

KHS has a model that starts around $1400, which is about as cheap as they'll get IMO due to the specialized components required.

As far as "racing geometry" goes, most fatbikes are not designed for racing and have very mellow handling characteristics which should make them suitable for comfortable commuting.

FYI for those who like to ride Weaselhead/North Glenmore Park - the "illegal" connector from the blue bridge east to the north glenmore boat club is rideable and in pretty good shape.

To access from blue bridge, just north of the bridge look for a wooden fence on right where people have tracked in a path around it and follow it towards the cliffside, staying just up from the waters edge.

I rode it yesterday and went back in there today to clear a little bit of brush.  It is a nice way to add a little more singletrack instead of riding the bike path up top.

Picked up my new Porcelain Rocket framebag yesterday. Fits great, amazing quality, no more sweaty backpack back!

If you're looking for a locally made option, I can't recommend them enough. Check 'em out.

The service here is excellent, just be aware that they do get a very busy lunch rush most days. Their sweet and soul chicken balls are the best in the city and the rest of the menu is classic Chinese/Canadian fare. And they serve crinkle fries!
