a whiff of sinatra's cigarette lingers, and you can still hear the echo of the rat pack laughing at joey bishop's jokes. no one does red sauce italian better in los angeles.

I kind of felt I was in a time warp but I enjoyed it.

Things change. Matteo's doesn't. Much. with the new decor one no longer gets the feeling that Frank Sinatra is about to walk in, but it's fresh and nice, without spoiling the feeling. The menu is a bit limited for people who eat neither fish nor veal.

LOVE it here. Food is great. Old charm is comforting and the old timey Italian classics are so refreshingly simple and good. It's a bit of a throw back, but that's what makes it so great.
