A very deserving employee of Saint Jude Retreats, Marina Kranjcec, Assistant Director at our Mountain Retreat, was recently honored with the 2016 Employee of the Year. She wrote the following thank you and It expresses the heartfelt emotions of so many who are privileged to work here. Thank you Marina for putting this so well and for the dedicated work you do with such passion every day!
Hi everyone,
Yesterday on our Christmas party I was honored with Employee of the 2016 award. I am an immigrant who came in this country 15 years ago and I never though, not in the million years that I will be honored with such prestige award. My emotions were through the roof and I couldn’t find the words to express how thankful I am to all of you.
Michelle Dunbar , Mark Scheeren and Gerry Brown thank you for giving me opportunity to be part of your successful team. I am a huge fan of your program and I strongly believe that anyone can benefit from it. I know I did it. During these years I witnessed how big impact this program have on people who need and want to do change in their life and being a part of that process was rewarding for me in so many ways.
Thank you to all at Corporate Offices, Administration and Reservation, where everything begins, our House just takes over from you and finish a process that you so successfully started.
Thank you Pete Peter Scheeren, for everything what you have done for me, and I don’t mean only for your nomination, thank you for your working ethics and being great leader who made so easy for me to follow your lead.
Thank you Theresa Hulbert Baker you were my first director and I learned so much from you. I miss you.
Thank you to every single one of the staff member at Mountain Retreat House. You guys are great and hardworking team. I am thankful and proud to be one of you. I couldn’t do it without you!
On the end of the successful year we are all winners, we are all employees of the year and I am just the name pulled out of the “hat”. When I looked at this plaque I see all your names written all over it.
I wish you very Merry Christmas and even more successful New Year!
Marina Kranjcec

Veterans Day, or Armistice Day as it was originally called, was enacted to honor the end of WWI when Armistice was signed on 11/11/1918. In the legislation that made it a legal holiday in 1938 it was noted, Armistice Day was "dedicated to the cause of world peace". Later after WWII and the Korean War, it was expanded by President Eisenhower to honor veterans of all wars.
Veterans Day has evolved from the remembrance of ending the first World War to a day of honor and thanks to all our veterans, living and past, whether serving in war or peace time, as they protect peace and maintain freedom for the US and around the world.
Thank you to all the veterans who so selflessly gave of themselves. We can never repay your service and sacrifices. We honor you today and in our hearts every day.

On the Steve Harvey Show now-Dr. Drew Pinsky talking about "Pokémon Go addiction" and asks guests if they believe him that they need a full psychiatric workup and inpatient treatment or do they believe Steve Harvey and this behavior is their choice, "it's stupid", and just stop. We can't even make this stuff up!

Addiction isn't a disease nor a lifelong sentence to recovery but instead a choice of behavior. Steve Slate of Saint Jude Retreats stated, “I know this sounds simplistic, and that many people think this is an offensive message. But to me, it was and still is a massive relief.” http://ow.ly/4gwb305tuTj

The Saint Jude Retreats is the Alternative to Conventional Alcohol & Drug Treatment Rehabs.
Introduction

The Saint Jude Retreats helps people with substance use problems by concentrating on self-directed positive and permanent change and offers the opportunity for individuals to self-evaluate and explore avenues for life enhancement.  Saint Jude Retreats' program is educational, secular, disproves the disease theory of addiction, and disproves the effectiveness of  the traditional 12 step based treatment programs and rehabs, by using the power of  the science of neuroplasticity and Cognitive Behavioral Education ( CBE), which is substantiated by independent research.
