Concord's road load limits are officially lifted as of Monday, April 24, 2017. All snow had to be completely melted and all ditches had to be dried up of any standing water before postings could be lifted. Road damage can naturally occur during frequent thawing and freezing cycles, and heavy weight on weakened roads can cause excess damage. These postings were put in place to help protect Concord's streets during the spring thaw. Our sign crew started making their way through the city yesterday to remove all load limit signs. We appreciate all the cooperation to help maintain Concord's roads during the spring thaw. #ConcordNH

Our crews started flushing hydrants today to clear sediment from water distribution pipes. Although Concord is still in a moderate drought and water conservation practices are still strongly encouraged, hydrant flushing is part of required routine maintenance to clean Concord’s drinking water system. For the next several weeks, crews will be flushing hydrants in scheduled areas throughout the city to improve water quality and check water pressure. Customers may experience low pressure and discoloration when flushing is occurring in their area. If discoloration occurs, run your tap water on cold until the water runs clear. Residents should avoid doing laundry during their scheduled flushing time.

A hydrant flushing schedule will be posted online each week to indicate upcoming impacted areas. View flushing schedules and find more information at www.concordnh.gov/springoperations. #ConcordNH

Did you hear the good news from the National Drought Mitigation Center last week? It appears that Concord's drought conditions have finally slightly improved - changing from "severe" conditions to "moderate" conditions. Groundwater resources are still much lower than average and there is still a long way to go, but recent precipitation has helped reduce intensity levels. We ask the community to keep doing their part to conserve water to help restore resources. #DoYourPart #ConcordNH #drought

Today is World Water Day, a United Nations initiative to celebrate water and advocate for sustainable management of resources. This year, the theme is to reduce and reuse wastewater. We invite the community to celebrate #WorldWaterDay by learning more about wastewater and to consider using less water to generate less wastewater. Our wastewater treatment facilities work to recover resources and nutrients from wastewater, while protecting the environment from contaminants. Each day, our facilities treat approximately 4.3 million gallons of wastewater and provide sustainable resource recovery for our Concord community. Let’s all be sure to reduce and reuse in celebration of World Water Day. Visit www.concordnh.gov/wastewater for more information.
