Even if you met with a circle of friends and family to talk about all their collective divorces, your divorce is like a fingerprint. No matter what they say or "advise" - none are the same as yours. "Resist the urge to compare."

This is a good article on how someone else's bad divorce has no impact on yours.

THE BENEFITS OF MEDIATION
Mediation is a tool to resolve disputes; also known as alternative dispute resolution. During mediation, a trained family law mediator will assist the parties in reaching a resolution by facilitating negotiation. Each party can openly and candidly communicate their interests on issues, explore ideas and offer a proposal to settle on each issue. Often by using creative thinking with the assistance of a trained mediator, the parties can ultimately reach a global settlement. Although emotions can often be a roller coaster ride, your mediator will make sure the session remains a civil and always respectful.

Mediation is a very successful method of settling disputes when both parties 1) are willing to communicate and negotiate; 2) want to avoid time-consuming litigation and expensive attorneys’ fees; 3) understand what is the best interest of the children, if any; and 4) desire less stress, less animosity and a better co-parenting relationship after the process is over – just to name a few benefits.

The parties are in control of the outcome of their divorce as well as the time frame. Mediation offers a much shorter time frame for finishing a divorce whereas litigation can prolong the process and often exacerbate conflict and lead to unnecessary animosity and co-parenting problems.

Mediation is a confidential process. The proposals, promises and the admissions made during a session cannot be used against you in court.

Your mediator will keep the process organized and efficient. Should you hit a wall, you will be provided guidance and ideas that you may not have considered before. By keeping the sessions organized and efficient, you spend less time in sessions, less money overall and complete the process expeditiously and peacefully. Contact our office for a free phone consultation and learn about the process. 951-530-8210 or message us on Facebook.
