I'm still too old school. Even after 30 years of doing this, I'll still lug around a Peavey 1516 cab (2 x 8" + 15") and a Peavey 118 underneath. I drive that with each side of an old rebuilt Phase Linear 700B mk II and Jands JP4 parametric
It fits in my Toyota Corolla....just, ways a friggin ton, but it sounds superb even at low low volumes.
I occasionally get a bit of grief from a Sound guy who is justifiably paranoid, but once I get the level right, it's sweet.
I did one gig where the guy insisted on micing it up, but because of the different cross over points with the different drivers, it's impossible to close mic. He wouldn't take the DI I offered, so when we started, I just turned it right off, until he came over after the first song. I convinced him to DI, which he finally did, the bass he pushed through the mix was so loud. I just left the rig turned down to nothing on the master. I still got complaints from the band members !!!
On the other hand, I was doing an out door gig, and the DI choked half way through the first song. While the sound guy was sorting out another DI, I just turned it from 9 o'clock on the volume to 3 o'clock.......you could hear me alright :-)
