On Thursday, August 13, 2015, my Canon D20 camera (blue/black body) in a clear acrylic scuba dive housing fell into the ocean off West Oahu, Hawaii. It should have floated. If found, I would dearly love to have the photos on it back, though it might wash up anywhere from Japan to Mexico. I hold out hope for the power of social media :)

Pretty awesome :)
I knew I had high performing people working for me.  But breaking the sound barrier falling in a space suit from a 135,908 foot high balloon ride this morning?  Thanks +Alan Eustace!

Getting to see Steven Pinker speak for the first time and I'm inordinately excited. I've been a fan of his work since reading "How The Mind Works" in 2000

An article that warns against desiring grit to the point of ignoring whether a task is worth sticking with after a certain point.

That to me, is the really important lesson -- developing the judgment to know the best course for any situation. Blindly following any rule is never a course for real success.

A really informative report about what goes into the complete production of a T-shirt.

These days, I cringe a little when I see free t-shirts being handed out like candy. The thrift store is full of discarded clothing, and all I see are the wasted agricultural and human resources and carbon footprint of the entire process.

“When I invested my own money to start my insurance agency no one accused me of making a vanity investment.  When I invested my own money to buy a life insurance company no one called it a vanity investment.  When I paid cash for my office building no one accused me of making a vanity investment.  When Bill Gates and Paul Allen invested their time and money into developing code for the Altair computer no one accused them of writing vanity code.
But if Bill Gates and Paul Allen invest their own money to write a book, they’re no longer businessmen, they’re vain and any company that charges them money to publish their book is catering to their vanity!  How absurd is that?”
