Howdy! Here are the latest (last 4 months) additions to my PC.Over the last four months I have been selling books to try and upgrade / improve my PC. Mainly moving random spec books, I also opened up my PC to move lower grade books that were established keys. While I was not thrilled with the idea at first, I figured moving them for other higher grade books would make it okay.

I am writing this because I had intended on selling from the start of buying books and never managed to do it. I thought I would give it a shot and was happy with the results. Both in the money adding up and the books it allowed me to obtain.

One thing to note: I do not view this as 'making money' on what I sold. I look at it as re-allocating funds. That is, I did not pull the original dollars out and then buy with the 'new' money. Instead I rolled previously spent funds + new gains into different properties.

Also, this is not meant to be a brag but more of an incentive to folks to let go of books (if that was your initial intent). I hear many people reference that they keep wanting / planning to, but never get to the selling side. It is not fun and it does take time. For me the end results have been worth it. In some cases I waited far too long to do it, and hope to not repeat that in the future.

The only two books of note I moved were Hero for Hire 1 CGC 6.5 and X-Men 94 CGC 8.5. I also moved Hero for Hire 2-16 raw in mid-high 9s.

Most of the other books were raw and many of them were $20-40 range, but quite a few were $10-20. I was surprised how fast the totals climbed. Some were maybe sold too low or even a bit soon, but they were books I was not super thrilled with so I did not really mind. I know some of this is obvious, but it was a surprise 'in real time.'

Now, to be fair, I also spent some of my own money which I had planned on spending over the 4-ish months. It was above my normal spending, but I had prepared for it so it was not too bad.

Some of my books were sold at fixed prices, but most were auctioned. I opted for that to better increase the sales numbers as I was 'sprinting' to get sales for this trial. Under normal conditions, I would probably settle more books as fixed / BIN prices as a few of them really undersold their value IMHO.

In the end I moved roughly 150 books and 'donated' nearly 3 short boxes of .25 titles. This reduced my collection which was nice, and brought in books that I think have higher upside.

Many of the books I targeted were keys people know of, but some were more personal spec and things I was just interested in. I like mixing in books that are not pure spec because I want to see titles I have some connection to when I look through my books. But I also want to keep an eye on the future to hopefully make sure I have some future titles to move when the time comes. It is a hard balance for me :)

Some of these I have shared already, they are not additional copies. Since they were a part of this experiment I wanted to include them again.

Thank you for reading and good luck if decide to sell some of your books!

Facebook Groups?

Howdy! I have been selling on eBay which is going well, but I have heard the FB world is going strong for sales. Does anyone have any experience selling / buying on FB? Is it worth creating an account to sell books?

Thank you in advance!

With Legion coming, i have been moving quite a few sets (25-27) at a very favorable return. I was keeping two sets for myself (one Barcode and one not) but i am wondering about this set. Is this one that might stay in demand? Or should i move them all and take the profits? I am guessing these, if graded, would be 9.8s. But would that really matter?

Thoughts?

Thank you in advance!

Quick poll. Which do you think is a better deal and why?

House of Secrets 92 CGC 8.5 $1050
Forever People 1 CBCS 9.6 $500

NOTE: these are only stock images, not the books I am looking at. Also, the HoS pictured is in a CBCS slab, but the real one is CGC. Just using available images :)

Thank you all in advance! Asking in another community, so sorry if you see this twice.

Happy holidays! A little surprise from my wife. She does like Man-Thing (giggle if you must) so it is a little cross-purpose ;)
