Interesting. I'm guessing if it's normally only seen in middle-aged dogs, it's even more unlikely to be seen in young cats. And yet my 3 month old kitten has a swelling exactly like this on the upper 2/3rd his left hind leg (somewhere between the knee and the pelvic joint and yet close enough to neither). No sign of injury, no blood or pus, just an amber--colored fluid exactly the consistency of corn syrup. That was confusing enough but it also shows a remarkable tendency to refill. The vet drained it a few days ago and now I can see it's starting to swell again.
