I like Indian food and Amaya is one of my favorite new places in Toronto (I just recently moved to TO from Ottawa). The food is 5 stars, service is 4 stars - I've been there 4 or 5 times and almost every time I get overcharged i.e. they add items that I didn't order. Last 2 times I corrected them and they quickly removed them from the bill and apologized. May be they have problems with math... though the errors are always in their favor.

Was pleasantly surprised as to the decor in the restaurant, the food stays true to there roots but adds a slight twist to make it that much more interesting, will definitely go again.

WATCH OUT - I've been there a few times and so have friends and clients. Each have experienced problems with the bill. They add items you didn't order on purpose. This has happened each visit. Watch what you are ordering and the prices. Have an estimated amount ready and review your bill. Food is amazing that's why we keep going.

Ok. Nothing all too special. Cassava fries were nice, Aloo Gobi and Murgh Tikka Masala both good, but the Dal was something of a bust and left a lousy taste in my mouth. All told, it's expensive compared to equal to better Indian you could get elsewhere, like Gerard east. Also, my water glass was empty for a good 10 minutes until I got a chance to ask someone for a refill. The servers seemed to treat it more like a cafeteria--get the food out and that's the end of it.

One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. Food was so flavorful and very good quality ingredients used.

Different take on Indian food without straying to far off. Overall liked all dishes. Restaurant is a bit under staffed though, so it won't be a short dinner.

What a discovery! This is a fresh take on South Asian/ East indian cuisine. Traditional dishes done in new and innovative ways. My girl friend and I just happened to go there because of the recommendation of a friend and the fact that it was on the way to the show that we were going to. The only thing that I can say it that it was a "cornucopia of indulgence of sensory experiences". We didn't know what to order so we had the sampling meal with the wine pairing. We made the right decision. The food was excellent. The wine was paired perfectly to the food. The food presentations were works of art. And the service was attentive and impeccable. And best of all, the price could easily be in the very expensive range, but it is not. This is now my new favourite place to dine!

What is all the hype? I don't get it. Average. There is nothing to really complain about but nothing to really rave about either. I understand they are trying to provide a higher end Indian food experience but it lands up just being average food for more money. There are other higher end Indian places in the city that work well.
